5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Life and Replacement

The PG9938 is designed for a prolonged battery life of approximately 7 years under typical usage conditions. When the battery level becomes low, the device will send a low battery signal to your security system. Consult your security system's manual or a qualified technician for battery replacement procedures. Using incorrect battery types or improper installation can damage the device.

5.2 Cleaning

To clean the device, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the casing or internal components. While the device is water-resistant, avoid submerging it in water.

5.3 Storage

Store the panic key in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use for extended periods.

6. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your DSC PG9938 Panic Key, consider the following:

  • Device Not Responding: Ensure the device is within range of your security system's receiver. Check the security system's status for any trouble conditions related to the panic key.
  • LED Not Illuminating: If the LED does not light up after pressing the button for 2 seconds, the battery may be depleted, or the device may not be properly enrolled with the system. Refer to Section 5.1 for battery information and your system's manual for enrollment.
  • Accidental Activations: The device has a 2-second activation delay to prevent accidental triggers. Ensure you are pressing the button firmly and intentionally for the required duration.
  • Water Exposure: While water-resistant, prolonged exposure to water or submersion can cause damage. If the device has been heavily exposed to water, allow it to dry completely and test its functionality. If issues persist, contact support.

For persistent issues, contact your security system installer or DSC technical support.
