2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before using the file cabinet to prevent injury or damage.

  • Do not exceed a total load of 330 pounds for the entire cabinet.
  • Do not exceed 55 pounds per drawer. Overloading can cause instability and damage.
  • Always use the casters carefully when moving the cabinet to prevent tipping.
  • To prevent tipping, avoid opening more than one drawer at a time, especially the top drawer when the bottom is empty. The central caster is designed to help prevent tipping when a single drawer is opened.
  • Keep keys out of reach of children.

3. What's in the Box

The DEVAISE 2 Drawer Mobile File Cabinet comes with the following components:

  • 1 x Pre-assembled File Cabinet Body
  • 5 x Casters (4 swivel casters, 1 anti-tipping central caster)
  • 2 x Keys for the locking mechanism
  • 1 x Instruction Guide
  • Tools for caster installation

4. Setup

The file cabinet arrives largely pre-assembled. The only required setup is the installation of the casters.

  1. Carefully unbox the file cabinet and place it on its side or back on a soft, clean surface to avoid scratching the finish.
  2. Identify the five caster attachment points on the bottom of the cabinet. Four points are at the corners, and one is centrally located at the front.
  3. Screw each of the four swivel casters into the corner attachment points. Ensure they are tightened securely using the provided tools.
  4. Screw the anti-tipping central caster into the front-center attachment point. This caster is crucial for stability when drawers are extended.
  5. Once all casters are securely attached, carefully upright the cabinet.

  • To Unlock: Insert the key and turn it counter-clockwise.
  • Always remove the key after locking to prevent unauthorized access.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your file cabinet.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the painted finish.
  • Drawer Slides: Periodically check the drawer slides for any debris or dust. If drawers do not glide smoothly, clean the tracks and apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant if necessary.
  • Casters: Ensure casters are free of hair or debris that could impede movement. Tighten any loose caster screws as needed.
  • Lock: If the lock mechanism becomes stiff, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the keyhole.
