Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when using power tools. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the tool.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves.
- Ensure the drill bit is securely fastened in the drill chuck before operation.
- Maintain a firm grip on the drill with both hands during use.
- Keep bystanders, especially children and pets, at a safe distance from the work area.
- Avoid using the auger in extremely hard soil, rocky ground, or areas with hidden obstacles (e.g., utility lines, irrigation pipes) to prevent damage to the tool or personal injury.
- Do not force the auger; allow the drill to do the work.
- Disconnect the drill bit from the power drill before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
Setup
- Select a Compatible Drill: The auger fits any 3/8-inch or larger chuck drill. An 18V or larger cordless drill with an adjustable drill chuck is recommended for optimal performance.
- Insert the Auger Bit: Loosen the drill chuck and insert the hex drive end of the auger bit into the chuck.
- Secure the Bit: Tighten the drill chuck firmly to ensure the auger bit is securely held and will not slip during operation.
- Prepare the Soil (Optional but Recommended): For easier drilling, especially in dry or compacted soil, moisten the area with water before starting.

Operation
- Position the Auger: Place the tip of the auger bit on the desired digging spot.
- Start Drilling: With a firm two-handed grip on the drill, slowly begin drilling. Apply steady, downward pressure.
- Maintain Control: Allow the spiral design to pull the auger into the ground. Do not push excessively. The point on the spiral drill bit rotates at a high speed to break through the solid surface of the ground first, then maintains stable and powerful penetration.
- Clear Debris: Periodically lift the auger slightly while it's still spinning to clear soil from the hole and the auger flights.
- Achieve Desired Depth: Continue drilling until the desired depth (up to 12 inches) and width (4 inches) are reached.
- Remove Auger: Once the hole is complete, reverse the drill to extract the auger bit from the ground.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your auger drill bit:
- Cleaning: After each use, clean any soil or debris from the auger bit.
- Lubrication: Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the metal parts before and after using the product to prevent rust and oxidation during storage.
- Storage: Store the auger bit in a dry place to prevent corrosion.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues during operation, consider the following:
- Difficulty Drilling:
- Ensure the soil is adequately moistened. Dry, hard soil can be difficult to penetrate.
- Verify your drill has sufficient power (18V or higher recommended) and a fully charged battery.
- Check if the auger bit is securely tightened in the drill chuck.
- Avoid using in hard soil or gravel, as this can damage the product and hinder drilling.
- Auger Bit Slipping:
- Re-tighten the drill chuck to ensure a firm grip on the hex drive.
- Confirm the drill chuck is compatible with a 3/8-inch hex shank.
