4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Automatic Operation

The dashcam is designed for automatic operation. Once connected and the application is running on your head unit, it will:

  • Power on automatically when your vehicle starts.
  • Begin recording automatically.
  • Power off automatically when your vehicle is turned off.

4.2 Recording Modes

  • Continuous Loop Recording: The dashcam continuously records video in segments. When the Micro SD card reaches its capacity, the oldest unlocked files are automatically overwritten to make space for new recordings.
  • Manual File Locking: During recording, you can manually trigger the dashcam to lock the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. This is useful for saving important events.

4.3 ADAS System (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems)

The ADAS system provides real-time audio alerts to assist with safer driving:

  • Front Collision Warning: Alerts you if you are approaching a vehicle too quickly.
  • Lane Departure Warning: Notifies you if your vehicle drifts out of its lane without signaling.
  • Front Vehicle Start Alert: Informs you when the vehicle in front of you starts moving from a stop.

These features can be configured or disabled within the dashcam application settings on your Eonon head unit. Some users may find certain alerts intrusive; adjust settings to your preference.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Micro SD Card Management

  • Regular Formatting: To maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption, it is recommended to format the Micro SD card periodically (e.g., once a month) through the dashcam application. This will erase all data on the card, so back up any important files first.
  • Card Replacement: Micro SD cards have a limited lifespan due to continuous read/write cycles. If you experience recording errors or data loss, consider replacing the card with a new Class 10 Micro SD card (8GB-32GB).

5.2 Cleaning the Dashcam

  • Lens Cleaning: Gently wipe the dashcam lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear video quality. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Body Cleaning: Use a slightly damp cloth to clean the body of the dashcam. Do not immerse the device in water or use excessive moisture.
