5. Setup Guide
5.1 Initial Setup and Password
- For the first-time login, you will be prompted to set a password. For security purposes, this password must be in a combination of numbers and letters.
- Remember your password. If forgotten, a factory reset may be required, which could erase settings.
5.2 Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Installation
The NVR package does not include a Hard Disk Drive. An HDD is required for recording video footage. Please purchase a compatible 3.5-inch SATA HDD (up to 6TB) separately.
- Power Off: Ensure the NVR is powered off and disconnected from the power source before installation.
- Open Cover: Carefully remove the top cover of the NVR by unscrewing the retaining screws.
- Mount HDD: Align the HDD with the mounting holes inside the NVR chassis. Secure it with the provided screws.
- Connect Cables: Connect the SATA data cable and SATA power cable from the NVR to the HDD.
- Close Cover: Replace the top cover and secure it with the screws.
- Format HDD: After powering on the NVR, navigate to the HDD management settings in the NVR's menu to format the newly installed hard drive. This prepares it for recording.
5.3 Physical Connections
Connect all necessary peripherals to the NVR as shown in the diagram below:

Figure 5.1: NVR Connection Diagram. This diagram illustrates how to connect the NVR to IP cameras, a network router, a VGA monitor, an HDMI display, a USB mouse or storage device, and the power supply.
- Power: Connect the DC 12V/2A power adapter to the NVR's DC 12V input port.
- Monitor: Connect a monitor to either the VGA or HDMI output port for local viewing.
- Mouse: Connect the included USB mouse to one of the USB ports for navigation.
- Network: Connect an Ethernet cable from the NVR's LAN port to your network router or switch.
5.4 Camera Connection and Configuration
The NVR supports both automatic and manual addition of IP cameras.
- Connect Cameras: Connect your IP cameras to your network via Ethernet cables. Ensure both the cameras and the NVR are powered on.
- Automatic Configuration (Quick Set):
Right-click on the NVR interface to access the main menu. Navigate to the 'IP channel' or 'Camera Management' section. The NVR will typically configure cameras automatically. Look for a 'Quick Set' option.

Figure 5.2: Automatic Camera Setup. This screenshot shows the NVR's 'IP channel' menu, detailing the process of connecting cameras. It highlights the 'Quick Set' option for automatic configuration.
- Manual Configuration:
If your camera is not automatically connected, you may need to add it manually:- Click the "Search" button in the 'IP channel' menu. The NVR will scan for available IP cameras on the same network segment.
- Select the desired camera's IP address from the search results.
- Select an empty channel for the new camera (e.g., Channel #5), then click "Add".
- After successful configuration, click "Apply" to save settings, then "Exit".

8. Troubleshooting
8.1 NVR Not Powering On
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the NVR and a working power outlet.
- Verify that the power outlet is supplying power.
- Check the power adapter for any visible damage. Use only the provided DC 12V/2A power supply.
8.2 Cameras Not Connecting/Displaying
- Ensure all IP cameras are powered on and properly connected to the network.
- Verify network cables are securely plugged into both the cameras and the router/switch.
- Confirm that the cameras and NVR are on the same network segment.
- Try adding cameras manually using the "Search" and "Add" functions in the NVR's 'IP channel' menu (refer to Section 5.4).
- Check if the cameras are ONVIF compliant. While the NVR supports ONVIF, some third-party cameras may require specific configurations.
8.3 No Recording/HDD Issues
- Ensure a compatible Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is installed correctly (refer to Section 5.2).
- Verify that the HDD has been formatted by the NVR.
- Check the recording schedule and settings to ensure they are configured correctly for continuous, motion, or timed recording.
- If the HDD is full, configure the NVR to overwrite old footage or replace the HDD.
8.4 Remote Access Not Working
- Ensure the NVR is connected to the internet and has a stable network connection.
- Verify that the 'Xmeye' app is installed correctly and you are logged into your account.
- Confirm that the NVR's QR code was scanned correctly and the device was added to the app.
- Check your router's firewall settings; some may block P2P connections.
