1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your STEAMEMO 8 Port Gigabit PoE Switch. This unmanaged switch is designed to provide both data and power over Ethernet cables, simplifying network deployment for compatible devices.
The switch features 8 Gigabit PoE ports and 2 Gigabit Uplink ports, offering a total PoE budget of 120W, with up to 30W per port. It incorporates advanced features such as AI PD Detection and 4KV Lightning Protection for enhanced reliability and safety.
2. Product Features
- Active PoE Support (802.3af/at Compliant): Supports both PoE and non-PoE devices. For passive PoE or non-PoE devices, the switch transmits data only; external power is required for the device. Can be used with an active PoE splitter.
- 8 Gigabit PoE Ports + 2 Gigabit Uplink Ports: Provides 8 Power over Ethernet ports (1000M) with up to 30W per port, and a total PoE budget of 120W. Two additional 1000M Uplink ports are available for connecting to NVRs, the internet, or other network devices.
- 4KV Lightning Protection: Professional lightning protection design on ports and power supply (up to 4KV) effectively restrains lightning power from cables, enhancing system security.
- AI PD Detection: Intelligently detects if a connected device requires power. If a non-PoE device is connected, the switch will not supply power, preventing potential damage to the device.
- Built-in Power Supply: The power supply is integrated within the switch body, making it compact and lightweight. Simply connect the provided AC Power Cable.
- Fanless Design: Operates silently due to its fanless design.
- Network Cable Short-Circuit Protection: Ensures stable operation and strong anti-interference ability, protecting against faults caused by network port short circuits. Includes Short Circuit, Over Current, and Over Voltage Protection.

5. Setup and Installation
- Unpack the Switch: Carefully remove the PoE switch and AC power cable from the packaging.
- Placement: Place the switch on a stable, flat surface or mount it in a suitable location. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device. The fanless design allows for quiet operation.
- Connect Power: Connect the provided AC Power Cable to the AC-IN port on the back of the switch and then to a standard power outlet. The switch has a built-in power supply.
- Connect Uplink Ports: Connect your router, NVR, or main network to the LAN1 or LAN2 (Uplink) ports using standard Ethernet cables. These are Gigabit ports.
- Connect PoE Devices: Connect your PoE-compatible devices (e.g., IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points) to any of the 8 PoE ports (1-8) using Ethernet cables. The switch will automatically detect and power these devices if they are 802.3af/at compliant.
- Connect Non-PoE Devices (Optional): If connecting non-PoE devices to the PoE ports, ensure they have their own power supply. The AI PD Detection feature will prevent the switch from attempting to power these devices, protecting them from damage.

6. Operating Instructions
The STEAMEMO PoE Switch is an unmanaged device, meaning it requires minimal configuration and operates largely plug-and-play.
- Power On: Once connected to power, the switch will automatically power on. The PWR indicator light should illuminate.
- Link/Activity Indicators: Each port has an indicator light. A solid light indicates a successful link, while a blinking light indicates data activity.
- AI Power (AI PWR) Switch: This switch controls the AI PD Detection feature. It is recommended to keep this feature enabled (ON) to protect non-PoE devices.
- PoE Power Delivery: For 802.3af/at compliant devices, the switch will automatically detect and provide power. No manual configuration is needed for PoE.
7. Maintenance and Safety
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the switch. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ventilation: Although fanless, ensure the switch is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
- Lightning Protection: The built-in 4KV lightning protection helps safeguard the device. However, for maximum protection during thunderstorms, it is advisable to disconnect the power and network cables.
- Short-Circuit Protection: The switch features network cable short-circuit protection. If a short circuit occurs on a port, other ports will continue to function normally.
- Power Supply: The integrated power supply is designed for convenience. Only use the provided AC Power Cable or a compatible replacement.
Figure 7.1: This diagram illustrates the switch's resilience to network cable issues, showing that other ports remain functional even if one port experiences a short circuit or a cable is damaged.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power indicator light | Power cable not connected or faulty outlet. | Ensure the AC power cable is securely connected to the switch and a working power outlet. Test the outlet with another device. |
| Device not receiving power (PoE port) | Device is not PoE compatible, AI PD Detection is active, or cable is faulty. | Verify the device is 802.3af/at compliant. Ensure the AI PWR switch is ON. Check the Ethernet cable for damage. If the device is non-PoE, provide external power. |
| No network connectivity | Incorrect cable connection, faulty cable, or issue with connected device. | Check all Ethernet cable connections. Ensure uplink ports are connected to your main network. Test with different cables. Verify the connected device is functioning correctly. |
| Slow network speed | Cable quality, network congestion, or device limitations. | Ensure you are using Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables for Gigabit speeds. Check for excessive network traffic. Verify the connected devices support Gigabit speeds. |
