4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Ensure the drone and remote controller are powered off.
  2. Insert the fully charged battery into the drone's battery compartment until it clicks into place.
  3. Open the battery cover on the remote controller and insert 3 AAA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity.
  4. To charge the drone battery, connect it to the USB charging cable and plug the cable into a USB power adapter (5V/1A recommended). The indicator light will show charging status and turn off when fully charged.

4.2 Propeller Installation (if necessary)

If propellers are not pre-installed or need replacement:

  1. Identify the A and B propellers. Each propeller has a small letter (A or B) printed on its surface.
  2. Match the propeller type (A or B) to the corresponding motor arm. The drone's motor arms are also marked with A or B.
  3. Carefully press the propeller onto the motor shaft until it is securely seated.

4.3 Propeller Guard Installation

For added safety, attach the propeller guards to each motor arm by snapping them into place.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Pairing the Drone and Remote Controller

  1. Place the drone on a flat, level surface.
  2. Power on the drone. The indicator lights will flash.
  3. Power on the remote controller.
  4. Push the left joystick (throttle) all the way up, then pull it all the way down. The drone lights will stop flashing and remain solid, indicating successful pairing.

5.2 One-Button Takeoff and Landing

  • Takeoff: After pairing, press the one-button takeoff/landing button. The drone will automatically ascend and hover at a certain altitude.
  • Landing: During flight, press the one-button takeoff/landing button again. The drone will automatically descend and land gently.

5.3 Basic Flight Controls

ControlAction
Left Joystick Up/DownAscend/Descend (Throttle)
Left Joystick Left/RightRotate Left/Right (Yaw)
Right Joystick Up/DownForward/Backward (Pitch)
Right Joystick Left/RightFly Left/Right (Roll)

5.4 Headless Mode

In headless mode, the drone's orientation is relative to the pilot, regardless of the drone's actual front direction. This simplifies control for beginners.

  • Press the Headless Mode button on the remote controller to activate/deactivate.

5.5 Altitude Hold

The drone can maintain a stable altitude automatically, allowing for easier control and more stable aerial photography.

  • This feature is typically active by default after takeoff.

5.6 Speed Adjustment

The drone offers 3 speed modes (low, medium, high) to suit different skill levels and flying conditions.

  • Press the Speed Switch button on the remote controller to cycle through the speed modes.

5.7 3D Flip

To perform a 3D flip:

  1. Fly the drone to a height of at least 2-3 meters.
  2. Press the 3D Flip button (usually on the right shoulder of the remote).
  3. Immediately push the right joystick in any direction (forward, backward, left, or right) to execute the flip in that direction.

5.8 Gesture Control (for Photos/Videos)

Use hand gestures to trigger photo or video recording:

  • Photo: Make a 'V' gesture with your fingers in front of the drone's camera. The drone will take a photo after a short delay.
  • Video: Raise your open palm in front of the drone's camera. The drone will start recording video. Repeat the gesture to stop recording.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the drone and remote controller. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Propeller Inspection: Regularly check propellers for damage (cracks, bends). Replace any damaged propellers immediately using the provided spare parts.
  • Motor Care: Keep motors free from dust and debris. Avoid flying in sandy or dusty environments.
  • Battery Storage: If storing the drone for an extended period, charge batteries to about 50% and remove them from the drone and controller. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the official 4DRC website or app for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Drone does not respond to controller. Not paired; low battery; out of range.Re-pair drone and controller; charge batteries; fly within range (max 120m).
Drone drifts during flight. Not calibrated; uneven surface at takeoff; wind interference.Perform gyroscope calibration on a flat surface; avoid strong winds.
Camera image is blurry or distorted.Lens dirty; poor Wi-Fi signal; camera not adjusted.Clean lens; ensure strong Wi-Fi connection; adjust camera angle.
Short flight time.Battery not fully charged; old battery; aggressive flying.Fully charge battery; consider replacing old batteries; fly more gently.
App connection issues.Incorrect Wi-Fi network; app not updated; phone settings.Connect to drone's specific Wi-Fi; update app; check phone's Wi-Fi settings.
