3. Setup
3.1. Battery Installation
The Femometer Digital Thermometer comes with one LR41 battery pre-installed. If the battery needs replacement, follow these steps:
- Gently slide off the battery cover located at the end of the thermometer.
- Remove the old LR41 battery.
- Insert a new LR41 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Replace the battery cover securely.
3.2. Initial Power On
Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. A short beep will sound, and the display will show all segments briefly, followed by the last measured temperature. Then, 'Lo' with a flashing '°C' or '°F' will appear, indicating the thermometer is ready for measurement.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the thermometer is clean and disinfected.
- Press the power button to turn on the device.
- Position the thermometer according to the desired measurement method (oral, rectal, or underarm).
- Hold the thermometer in place until a series of beeps indicates the measurement is complete. For accurate readings, continue holding for approximately 60 seconds after the initial beep.
- Read the temperature displayed on the LCD screen.
- Press the power button to turn off the thermometer, or it will automatically shut off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity.

- Oral Use: Place the tip of the thermometer under the tongue. Close your mouth and hold the thermometer in place.
- Rectal Use: Lubricate the tip with a water-soluble jelly. Gently insert the tip into the rectum (approximately 0.5 inches for infants). This method is generally recommended for infants and young children.
- Underarm (Axillary) Use: Place the tip of the thermometer in the armpit, ensuring good skin contact. Hold the arm firmly against the body. This method may provide less accurate readings than oral or rectal methods.
