5. Cooking Tips

  • Preheating: While not always necessary due to rapid heating, preheating for 5-10 minutes can be beneficial for certain recipes, especially baked goods.
  • Rack Placement: Use the high rack for thinner items or when you want food closer to the heating element for faster browning. Use the low rack for thicker items or when you need more space between the food and the heating element.
  • Even Cooking: For very large items or when cooking multiple items, it may be beneficial to flip or rotate food halfway through the cooking process to ensure even browning.
  • Cooking from Frozen: The turbo oven can cook many foods directly from frozen, often requiring only a slight increase in cooking time compared to thawed items.
  • Healthy Cooking: The convection technology allows fat to drip away from food, collecting in the bottom of the glass bowl, promoting healthier meals.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper maintenance and cleaning will extend the life of your Tayama TO-2000R Turbo Oven.

  • Convection Cooking Lid: DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR ANY LIQUID. Wipe the exterior and interior of the lid with a damp cloth after each use. For stubborn grease, use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure the lid is completely dry before storage.
  • Glass Bowl: The tempered glass bowl can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. It is also dishwasher safe.
  • Racks and Tongs: The low rack, high rack, and tongs are dishwasher safe or can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water.
  • Oven Stand: Wipe the plastic oven stand with a damp cloth.
  • Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing. The oven can be disassembled for more compact storage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Tayama TO-2000R Turbo Oven, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Oven does not turn on:
    • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the oven and a working electrical outlet.
    • Check that the convection cooking lid handle is fully lowered into the ON position. The safety switch prevents operation if the handle is up.
    • Verify that both the Temperature and Timer knobs are set to desired values and not in the 'OFF' position.
  • Food is not cooking evenly:
    • Ensure food is placed centrally on the rack.
    • Avoid overcrowding the oven. Cook in smaller batches if necessary.
    • Consider flipping or rotating food halfway through the cooking cycle.
    • Check that the selected temperature and time are appropriate for the food type and quantity.
  • Smoke or unusual odor:
    • A small amount of smoke or odor may occur during initial use; this is normal.
    • If excessive smoke occurs, immediately unplug the oven. This may indicate food residue or grease buildup on the heating element. Clean the lid thoroughly once cooled.
