3. Safety Information
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to your vehicle.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves, during installation.
- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
- If lifting the vehicle, use appropriate jack stands to secure it. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
- Do not overtighten bolts, as this can strip threads or damage components. Refer to torque specifications if available.
- Keep children and pets away from the work area.
- After installation, double-check all fasteners to ensure they are securely tightened.
4. Installation Instructions (Setup)
Installation is a bolt-on process and typically requires no drilling or cutting for compatible vehicles. It is recommended to have a second person assist with positioning the running boards.
4.1 Tools Required
- Socket Wrench Set
- Torque Wrench (recommended)
- Measuring Tape
- Marker or Grease Pencil
4.2 Step-by-Step Installation
- Prepare the Vehicle: Park your Ford F-150 Crew Cab on a flat, stable surface. Engage the parking brake.
- Locate Mounting Points: Identify the factory-installed mounting points on the underside of your truck's frame. These are typically threaded holes or studs.
- Install Brackets: Attach the provided mounting brackets to the vehicle's frame using the supplied hardware. Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage; leave them slightly loose to allow for adjustment. Ensure the brackets are oriented correctly for the driver and passenger sides.
- Attach Running Boards: Carefully position one running board onto the installed brackets. The running boards feature a slider design with a groove that allows the attaching bolts to slide to the proper spot for customization. Align the running board with the brackets.
- Secure Running Boards: Insert the remaining hardware to secure the running board to the brackets. Again, do not fully tighten yet.
- Adjust Position: Adjust the running board's position forward or backward as desired for optimal step placement and appearance. Ensure it is level and evenly spaced from the vehicle body.
- Final Tightening: Once the running board is in the desired position, progressively tighten all bolts, starting with the bracket-to-frame bolts, then the running board-to-bracket bolts. Ensure all fasteners are secure.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow the same steps for installing the running board on the opposite side of the vehicle.
- Final Check: After both running boards are installed, double-check all bolts for tightness. Test the stability of each running board by applying pressure.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help preserve the appearance and functionality of your running boards.
- Cleaning: Clean the running boards regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the stainless steel finish or plastic step pads.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all mounting hardware for tightness. Re-tighten any loose bolts to ensure the running boards remain securely attached to the vehicle.
- Damage Check: Check for any signs of damage, such as bends, cracks, or excessive wear on the step pads. Address any issues promptly to maintain safety.

7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter.
7.1 Running Board Feels Loose
- Cause: Mounting bolts may have loosened over time due to vehicle vibration or heavy use.
- Solution: Inspect all mounting bolts and brackets. Re-tighten any loose fasteners. Ensure the running board is properly seated on the brackets.
7.2 Difficulty Stepping
- Cause: Running board position may not be optimal for user height or preference.
- Solution: Utilize the slider design to adjust the running board's position forward or backward. Loosen the running board-to-bracket bolts, reposition, and re-tighten.
