Carefully remove the sewing machine and all accessories from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport. Verify that all components listed in the 'Kit Contents' section (Section 6) are present.
2.2 Powering the Machine
The machine can be powered by either the included AC adapter or 4 x AA batteries (not included).
- AC Adapter: Insert the DC plug of the adapter into the DC input jack on the back of the machine. Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.
- Batteries: Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the machine. Insert 4 x AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover.

2.3 Attaching the Foot Pedal
Insert the plug of the foot pedal into the foot pedal jack on the back of the machine. The foot pedal provides hands-free speed control.
2.4 Threading the Machine
Proper threading is crucial for good stitch quality.
2.4.1 Winding the Bobbin
- Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle.
- Place a spool of thread onto the spool pin.
- Guide the thread through the bobbin winding tension disc.
- Wrap the thread around the bobbin a few times clockwise.
- Push the bobbin winder spindle to the right.
- Turn on the machine. The bobbin will start winding. Stop when the bobbin is full.
- Cut the thread and push the bobbin winder spindle back to the left. Remove the bobbin.
2.4.2 Inserting the Bobbin
- Open the bobbin cover plate.
- Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise).
- Pull the thread through the tension spring and out to the left.
- Close the bobbin cover plate.
2.4.3 Threading the Upper Thread
- Raise the needle to its highest position using the handwheel.
- Place a spool of thread onto the spool pin.
- Guide the thread through the upper thread guide.
- Bring the thread down through the tension discs.
- Pull the thread up through the take-up lever.
- Guide the thread down through the needle bar thread guide.
- Thread the needle from front to back using the needle threader or manually. Pull about 6 inches of thread through the needle eye.
- Hold the upper thread and turn the handwheel towards you to lower and raise the needle, catching the bobbin thread. Pull both threads under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Power On/Off and Speed Control
Use the L/OFF/H switch on the side of the machine to control power and speed:
- OFF: Machine is off.
- L (Low): Low speed setting.
- H (High): High speed setting.
When using the foot pedal, the switch should be in the OFF position. Press the foot pedal to start sewing and release to stop.
3.2 Stitch Selection
Rotate the stitch pattern dial to select one of the 12 available stitch patterns. Ensure the needle is in its highest position before changing stitch patterns.
3.3 Reverse Sewing Function
Press and hold the reverse sewing button (usually marked with a curved arrow) to sew in reverse. This is useful for securing the beginning and end of seams.
3.4 LED Light
The built-in LED light illuminates the sewing area for better visibility. It turns on automatically when the machine is powered on.

3.5 Using the Thread Cutter
After completing a seam, pull the fabric away from the needle and use the built-in thread cutter located on the side of the machine to quickly trim both upper and bobbin threads.
3.6 Sewing Sleeves and Cuffs
The machine features a free-arm design. To use, slide off the accessory storage drawer. This exposes the narrow free arm, ideal for sewing cylindrical items like sleeves, cuffs, and pant hems.

3.7 Button Sewing and Buttonholes
Refer to the stitch pattern dial for specific buttonhole stitches. The machine supports both one-step and four-step buttonhole sewing, depending on the selected stitch. Consult the stitch guide on the machine for detailed instructions on each buttonhole type.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain your machine's performance:
- Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
- Use a soft brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or harsh chemicals.
4.2 Needle Replacement
Replace the needle regularly (after 8-10 hours of sewing) or if it becomes bent, dull, or broken. Use only needles designed for household sewing machines.
- Turn off and unplug the machine.
- Loosen the needle clamp screw.
- Remove the old needle.
- Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, pushing it up as far as it will go.
- Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, refer to the table below for common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Machine not starting | No power; foot pedal not connected; speed switch in OFF position. | Check power connection/batteries; ensure foot pedal is plugged in; set speed switch to L or H. |
| Skipped stitches | Incorrectly threaded needle; bent or dull needle; wrong needle size for fabric. | Re-thread the needle correctly; replace needle; use appropriate needle for fabric type. |
| Thread breaking | Incorrect tension; poor quality thread; needle inserted incorrectly; burr on needle plate. | Adjust tension; use good quality thread; re-insert needle correctly; check for burrs. |
| Fabric not feeding | Feed dogs clogged with lint; presser foot not lowered. | Clean feed dogs; lower the presser foot before sewing. |
| Uneven stitches | Incorrect tension; improper threading. | Adjust tension for both upper and bobbin threads; re-thread machine. |
