3. Setup
Follow these steps to properly set up your Lay-Flat Discharge Hose Kit with a compatible pump:
- Identify Pump Discharge Size: Determine if your sump or utility pump has a 1-1/4 inch or 1-1/2 inch discharge outlet.
- Select Correct Coupling/Adapter: Choose the appropriate coupling (1-1/4" FTP x 1-1/4" FTP or 1-1/2" MPT) or the 1-1/4" MPT x 1-1/2" BARB adapter that matches your pump's discharge size.
- Attach Coupling/Adapter to Pump: Securely thread the selected coupling or adapter onto the pump's discharge outlet. Ensure a tight fit to prevent leaks.
- Connect Lay-Flat Hose: Slide the stainless steel hose clamp over the end of the lay-flat hose. Then, firmly push the hose over the barb end of the coupling/adapter.
- Secure with Hose Clamp: Position the stainless steel hose clamp over the hose where it connects to the coupling/adapter. Tighten the clamp securely with a screwdriver until the hose is firmly gripped and cannot be pulled off.

4. Operation
Once the hose kit is securely attached to your pump, ensure the discharge end of the lay-flat hose is directed to a suitable drainage area, away from structures or areas where water accumulation could cause damage. Activate your pump according to its manufacturer's instructions. The lay-flat design allows for efficient water flow and can be easily positioned across various terrains.

5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your lay-flat discharge hose kit, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially when pumping dirty water, flush the hose with clean water to remove any debris or sediment.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the hose for any signs of wear, cuts, punctures, or damage. Check the hose clamp and adapters for tightness and corrosion.
- Storage: The lay-flat design allows for compact storage. After cleaning and drying, roll up the hose neatly. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to prevent material degradation.
- Avoid Kinking: While the hose is designed to lay flat, avoid sharp kinks or bends during operation or storage, as this can weaken the material over time.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Lay-Flat Discharge Hose Kit, consider the following common problems and solutions:
- Leaks at Connections:
- Ensure the hose clamp is tightened sufficiently.
- Check that the adapter is securely threaded onto the pump.
- Inspect the hose end and adapter for any cracks or damage that might prevent a proper seal.
- Reduced Water Flow:
- Check for kinks or sharp bends in the hose that might be restricting flow.
- Ensure the pump's intake is not clogged with debris.
- Verify that the hose diameter is appropriate for your pump's output.
- Hose Damage (Cuts/Splits):
- If the hose has sustained cuts or splits, it may need to be repaired or replaced. Small punctures might be temporarily patched, but significant damage will require replacement to maintain efficiency and prevent water loss.
