5. Setup and Installation
5.1. Controller Placement
Select a central location on an interior wall, approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) above the floor. Avoid areas near heat sources, direct sunlight, drafts, or behind doors, as these can affect temperature readings.
5.2. Battery Installation
- Gently remove the back cover of the MHK2 controller.
- Insert the two AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the battery compartment.
- Replace the back cover. The controller display should illuminate.
5.3. Mounting the Controller
- Secure the mounting plate to the wall using the provided screws and wall anchors. Ensure it is level.
- Attach the MHK2 controller to the mounting plate, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
5.4. Receiver Unit Installation
Refer to the separate installation guide provided with the Wireless Receiver Unit for detailed wiring and pairing instructions. The receiver unit connects to your HVAC indoor unit and communicates wirelessly with the MHK2 controller.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Display Overview
The touchscreen displays current time, set temperature, room temperature, operating mode, fan speed, and system status indicators.
6.2. Setting Temperature
Use the + and - buttons on the touchscreen to adjust the desired temperature set point.
6.3. Changing Operating Mode
Press the Mode button to cycle through available operating modes: Cool, Heat, Auto, Dry, Fan Only.
6.4. Adjusting Fan Speed
Press the Fan button to select desired fan speed: Auto, Low, Medium, High. The 'Auto' setting allows the system to adjust fan speed automatically.
6.5. Programming Schedules
Access the Menu to set up programmable schedules (5-1-1 Day, 5-2 Day, or 7-Day). Follow the on-screen prompts to define temperature set points for different times of the day and days of the week.
6.6. Vane Control
If your indoor unit supports it, press the Vane button to adjust the airflow direction.

7.1. Cleaning the Controller
