Components:

  • Auto-sense Probe: Detects infrared radiation to measure temperature.
  • Display Screen: LCD screen showing temperature readings, mode, and other indicators.
  • °C/°F Button: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  • Mode Button: Used to switch between different measurement modes (e.g., body, surface).
  • START/STOP Button (Power Button): Powers the device on/off and initiates a measurement.

  • MEM Button: Accesses memory recall for previous readings.
  • 3-Color LED: Provides visual indication of temperature status (green for normal, yellow for elevated, red for high fever).

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The AlphaMed UFR106 thermometer requires 2 AAA batteries for operation.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide or gently pull the cover to open the compartment.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Taking a Measurement

  1. Press the START/STOP (Power) Button to turn on the thermometer. The display will show all segments briefly, then indicate the last measurement or standby mode.
  2. Position the thermometer's probe approximately 1-5 cm (0.4-2 inches) from the center of the forehead. Ensure there are no obstructions like hair or sweat.
  3. Press the START/STOP Button again to initiate the measurement. A beep will sound, and the temperature will be displayed on the LCD screen.
  4. The 3-Color LED indicator will light up according to the temperature reading:
    • Green: Normal temperature (< 37.5°C / 99.5°F)
    • Yellow: Elevated temperature (Measurement in progress or slightly elevated)
    • Red: High temperature (≥ 37.5°C / 99.5°F)
  5. The thermometer will automatically shut off after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5.2 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F):

  • With the thermometer powered on, press the °C/°F Button once. The display will change to the alternate unit.
  • The selected unit will remain active until changed again.

5.3 Memory Function

The thermometer can store previous temperature readings.

  • Press the MEM Button to recall previous measurements.
  • Press the MEM Button repeatedly to cycle through stored readings.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To ensure accurate readings and hygienic use, clean the thermometer regularly.

  • Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with alcohol (70% isopropyl) or mild soap and water to wipe the thermometer body.
  • For the probe lens, use a cotton swab lightly moistened with alcohol. Gently wipe the lens to remove any dirt or residue.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, thinners, or benzene.
  • Ensure the thermometer is completely dry before storage or next use.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If not in use for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

7. Troubleshooting
