OPTI Water Filter OPTI CHILL

OPTI Chill Refrigerator Water Filter Dispenser Instruction Manual

Model: OPTI CHILL

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the OPTI Chill Refrigerator Water Filter Dispenser. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your new water filtration system. The OPTI Chill is designed to provide clean, safe, and alkaline water by removing harmful contaminants while retaining beneficial trace minerals.

OPTI Chill Refrigerator Water Filter Dispenser

Figure 1: OPTI Chill Refrigerator Water Filter Dispenser. This image shows the complete water filter dispenser unit.

The OPTI Chill system filters approximately 1 gallon of water per hour, utilizing a patented 5-stage ionic filter. This slower filtration process ensures a higher quality of water by effectively removing over 200 contaminants, including PFAS/PFOS/PFOA, chlorine, heavy metals like lead and mercury, and various chemicals and pesticides. It naturally enhances water alkalinity up to 9.0 pH.

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions before using the OPTI Chill dispenser. Failure to follow these instructions may result in product damage or personal injury.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in your OPTI Chill package:

4. Setup

4.1. Unpacking and Cleaning

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Wash the main reservoir, top basin, and spigot with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

4.2. Spigot Installation

  1. Insert the spigot into the designated hole at the bottom front of the main reservoir.
  2. Ensure the rubber washers are correctly positioned on both sides of the reservoir wall.
  3. Hand-tighten the nut on the inside of the reservoir until the spigot is secure. Do not overtighten.
  4. Test for leaks by filling the reservoir with a small amount of water before full assembly. If leaks occur, tighten slightly more.

4.3. Filter Priming and Installation

Before first use, the filter must be primed to ensure proper function and remove any air bubbles.

Video 1: Priming Filter Instructions for OPTI Water Filter. This video demonstrates the correct procedure for priming your OPTI filter using the provided syringe.

  1. Submerge the filter cartridge in a bowl of water for approximately 4 minutes.
  2. Fill the provided syringe with water.
  3. Create a tight seal between the syringe and the top opening of the filter. Force water through the filter 2-3 times. This helps remove air and prepares the filter for optimal performance.
  4. Insert the primed filter into the designated opening in the top basin. Ensure it is seated firmly.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Filling the Dispenser

  1. Place the top basin onto the main reservoir.
  2. Open the lid on the top basin.
  3. Pour municipal tap water into the top basin. The water will slowly filter through the cartridge into the main reservoir.
  4. The filtration process is intentionally slow (approximately 1 gallon per hour) to ensure thorough purification. Do not be alarmed if water remains in the top basin; this is normal and ensures the filter stays in contact with water for continuous optimization.

Video 2: Normal Filtration Speed of the OPTI Water Filter. This video illustrates the expected filtration speed of the OPTI Chill dispenser.

5.2. Dispensing Water

Once the water has filtered into the main reservoir, you can dispense it using the spigot. The OPTI Chill is designed to fit conveniently in most refrigerators, allowing for chilled filtered water.

5.3. Filter Replacement Reminder

The lid features a built-in date keeper. Set the dial to the month and day you installed the filter. Replace the filter every 3-4 months or after filtering 120 gallons, whichever comes first.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning the Dispenser

Regular cleaning of the dispenser is recommended to maintain hygiene and water quality.

  1. Empty any remaining water from the dispenser.
  2. Disassemble the top basin, main reservoir, and spigot.
  3. Wash all parts (except the filter cartridge) with warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush if necessary to clean hard-to-reach areas.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap residue.
  5. Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling.

6.2. Filter Replacement

Replace the filter cartridge every 3-4 months or after 120 gallons of use. Using an expired filter may compromise water quality.

  1. Remove the old filter cartridge from the top basin.
  2. Dispose of the old filter responsibly.
  3. Prime the new filter cartridge as described in Section 4.3.
  4. Install the new primed filter into the top basin.
  5. Reset the date keeper on the lid to reflect the new filter installation date.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Water is leaking from the spigot.Spigot not tightened sufficiently or rubber washers improperly seated.Empty the dispenser, disassemble the spigot, ensure rubber washers are correctly positioned, and re-tighten the nut firmly. Avoid overtightening.
Water is filtering very slowly. This is normal for OPTI filters due to their advanced filtration process. Alternatively, the filter may be clogged or nearing the end of its lifespan.Allow sufficient time for filtration. If the flow rate is significantly slower than usual, try re-priming the filter. If the issue persists, replace the filter cartridge.
Water taste or odor is not improved.Filter not properly primed or needs replacement.Ensure the filter was primed correctly. If the filter is old, replace it with a new one.
Date keeper is not working.Mechanism may be stuck or damaged.Gently try to adjust the dials. If it remains unresponsive, manually track filter replacement dates.
