1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your WilTec Gas Pressure Regulator, Model 62449. This device is designed to maintain a constant gas pressure of 50 mbar from a gas bottle to your appliance, ensuring safe and optimal operation. It is suitable for outdoor use with appliances such as barbecues and radiant heaters.
The regulator is compatible with gas bottles featuring a 21.8 x 1.14L connection and valve. It is equipped with a 1/4" (13.16 mm) connection for compatibility with commercially available gas appliances. The unit can regulate up to 1.5 kg of gas per hour at the required pressure.
2. Safety Information
Read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, explosion, property damage, personal injury, or death.
General Safety Precautions:
- Outdoor Use Only: This gas pressure regulator is designed exclusively for outdoor use. DO NOT use it in enclosed spaces, rooms, or vehicles.

4. Installation and Setup
Follow these steps carefully to install the gas pressure regulator. Ensure the gas bottle valve is closed before beginning installation.
Connecting the Regulator:
- Prepare Gas Bottle: Ensure your gas bottle is compatible with a 21.8 x 1.14L connection. Place the gas bottle on a stable, level surface in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
- Attach Regulator to Gas Bottle: Screw the brass connection of the regulator directly onto the gas bottle's valve. Turn clockwise until hand-tight. Use an appropriate wrench to tighten securely, but do not overtighten.
- Connect Gas Hose: Attach a suitable gas hose (not included) to the 1/4" (13.16 mm) threaded outlet of the regulator. Ensure the hose is rated for gas use and is securely fastened, typically with a hose clamp.
- Connect to Appliance: Connect the other end of the gas hose to your gas appliance (e.g., barbecue, radiant heater). Ensure this connection is also secure.
- Perform Leak Check: Before opening the gas bottle valve, apply a soapy water solution to all connections (regulator to bottle, hose to regulator, hose to appliance).
- Open Gas Valve: Slowly open the gas bottle valve. Observe the connections for bubbles. If bubbles appear, close the gas valve immediately, tighten the connection, and re-test. If no bubbles appear, the connections are secure.
Never use an open flame to check for gas leaks.
5. Operating Instructions
Once the regulator is securely installed and leak-checked, you can begin operating your gas appliance.
- Open Gas Bottle Valve: Slowly turn the gas bottle valve counter-clockwise to open it. Gas will flow into the regulator.
- Regulator Function: The regulator will automatically reduce the gas pressure from the bottle to a constant 50 mbar, suitable for your appliance.
- Operate Appliance: Follow the operating instructions for your specific gas appliance to ignite and use it.
- Shut Down: When finished using the appliance, first close the gas bottle valve by turning it clockwise. Allow the gas in the hose and appliance to burn off, then turn off the appliance controls.
Always ensure the gas bottle valve is closed when the appliance is not in use or during transport.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your gas pressure regulator.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the regulator and gas hose for any signs of damage, cracks, or wear. Replace any damaged components immediately.
- Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the regulator with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the regulator from the gas bottle and store it in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Service Life: Gas regulators have a limited service life. Check the manufacturer's recommendations or local regulations for replacement intervals.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your gas pressure regulator, consider the following common problems and solutions:
- No Gas Flow:
- Ensure the gas bottle valve is fully open.
- Check if the gas bottle is empty.
- Verify all connections are secure and there are no kinks in the gas hose.
- Gas Leak Detected (Bubbles during leak test):
- Immediately close the gas bottle valve.
- Tighten the connection where the leak is observed.
- Re-perform the leak test. If the leak persists, replace the faulty component (regulator, hose, or seals).
- Low Flame/Insufficient Pressure:
- Ensure the gas bottle is not running low.
- Check for blockages in the gas hose or appliance inlet.
- Verify the regulator is correctly rated for your appliance's pressure requirements.
If you cannot resolve an issue or suspect a serious malfunction, discontinue use immediately and contact a qualified technician or the manufacturer.
