Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your Hunter Swanson 52-inch ceiling fan. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning installation to ensure proper function and safety.
The Hunter Swanson ceiling fan features a 52-inch blade span, an integrated LED light kit, and convenient pull chain control. It is designed for indoor use and offers a reversible motor for year-round comfort.
Safety Information
- Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installation or servicing.
- Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes and ordinances.
- Mount the fan to a ceiling joist or a UL-listed outlet box marked "Acceptable for Fan Support of 35 lbs (15.9 kg) or less."
- Do not operate the fan with damaged blades or components.
- Maintain a minimum clearance of 7 feet from the floor to the bottom of the fan blades.
Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- Fan Motor Assembly
- Fan Blades (5)
- Blade Brackets
- Light Kit Assembly
- LED Bulbs
- Glass Shade
- Downrod (2-inch included)
- Canopy and Mounting Bracket
- Pull Chains
- Hardware Pack (screws, washers, wire nuts)

Setup and Installation
Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring. Ensure power is off at the circuit breaker before proceeding.
- Mounting Bracket Installation: Secure the mounting bracket to the ceiling outlet box. Ensure the outlet box is securely fastened to the building structure and can support the fan's weight (approximately 16.1 lbs).
- Downrod Assembly: Insert the downrod through the canopy and feed the motor wires through the downrod. Secure the downrod to the motor assembly with the provided pin and screw.
- Hanging the Fan: Carefully lift the fan assembly and place the downrod ball into the mounting bracket socket.
- Wiring Connections: Connect the fan's electrical wires to the household wiring according to the wiring diagram in the full instruction manual. Typically, this involves connecting ground, neutral, and live wires for the fan and light. Use the provided wire nuts.
- Canopy Installation: Slide the canopy up to the ceiling and secure it to the mounting bracket with the screws.
- Blade Attachment: Attach each fan blade to its blade bracket using the provided screws. Then, attach the blade assemblies to the motor housing. The blades are reversible, offering a Fresh White or a light wood grain finish.
- Light Kit Installation: Connect the light kit wires to the fan motor assembly. Secure the light kit to the bottom of the fan. Install the LED bulbs and then attach the glass shade.
- Pull Chain Installation: Attach the decorative pull chain extensions to the fan speed and light control chains.

Operating Instructions
The Hunter Swanson ceiling fan is controlled by two pull chains:
- Fan Speed Control: One pull chain controls the fan speed. Pull the chain repeatedly to cycle through high, medium, low, and off settings. The fan features a 3-speed Whisper Wind motor.
- Light Control: The other pull chain controls the integrated LED light kit. Pull the chain to turn the light on or off. The LED bulbs are dimmable; consult the full manual for specific dimming instructions if applicable beyond simple on/off.
Reversible Motor Function
The fan motor is reversible, allowing for seasonal use:
- Summer Mode (Downdraft): For cooling, ensure the switch on the motor housing is set to allow blades to rotate counter-clockwise, pushing air downwards to create a cooling breeze.
- Winter Mode (Updraft): For warming, ensure the switch on the motor housing is set to allow blades to rotate clockwise, drawing air upwards to circulate warm air trapped near the ceiling.
To change the direction of rotation, turn off the fan and wait for the blades to stop completely. Locate the reverse switch on the motor housing (usually a small slide switch) and slide it to the opposite position. Turn the fan back on.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the fan periodically with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
- Blade Cleaning: Wipe fan blades with a soft cloth to remove dust.
- Tightening Fasteners: Periodically check all screws and fasteners on the fan and light kit to ensure they are secure. Loose connections can cause noise or wobble.
- Light Bulb Replacement: The fan uses LED bulbs. If replacement is necessary, ensure the power is off and use bulbs of the correct type and wattage (6.5 watts, 600 lumens, 3000 Kelvin).
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Fan does not start | No power to the fan; loose wire connections; motor malfunction. | Check circuit breaker and wall switch. Ensure all wire connections are secure. Contact customer support if motor issue is suspected. |
| Fan wobbles | Loose blade screws; unbalanced blades; loose mounting bracket. | Tighten all blade screws. Check for bent blade holders. Ensure mounting bracket is securely installed. Use a balancing kit if necessary. |
| Light does not work | Loose wire connection; faulty bulb; light kit malfunction. | Check light kit wiring. Replace LED bulbs. Contact customer support if light kit issue is suspected. |
| Noisy operation | Loose screws; motor hum; blades hitting an obstruction. | Ensure all screws are tight. Verify no obstructions are in the blade path. Some motor hum is normal, but excessive noise may indicate an issue. |
