2.2 Device Components

  • ON/READ Button: Powers on the device and initiates measurements.
  • +/- UNIT Button: Toggles between addition/subtraction and changes measurement units.
  • Area/Volume/Indirect Measurement Button: Cycles through various measurement modes.
  • History Button: Accesses stored measurement records.
  • Reference Button / Mute Button: Changes the measurement reference point (front/back) and mutes/unmutes sound.
  • OFF/Return Button: Powers off the device or returns to the previous screen.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press the ON/READ button. The device will display the last used measurement mode.
  • To power off, press and hold the OFF/Return button. The device also features an automatic shutdown after 3 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Setting Measurement Reference Point

The device can measure from its front edge or its back edge. This is crucial for accurate measurements depending on your starting point.

  • Press the Reference / Mute button to toggle between the front and back reference points. An icon on the display will indicate the currently selected reference.

4.2 Changing Measurement Units

The atolla T201 supports meters, inches, and feet.

  • Press the +/- UNIT button to cycle through the available measurement units (m, in, ft).

4.3 Measurement Modes

Press the Area/Volume/Indirect Measurement button to cycle through the following modes:

  1. Single Measurement: Press ON/READ once to activate the laser, then again to take a single distance measurement.
  2. Continuous Measurement (Min/Max): In this mode, the device continuously measures and displays the current, minimum, and maximum distances. Press ON/READ to start and again to stop.
  3. Area Measurement: The device will prompt you to measure two sides (length and width). After two measurements, it automatically calculates and displays the area.
  4. Volume Measurement: The device will prompt you to measure three sides (length, width, and height). After three measurements, it automatically calculates and displays the volume.
  5. Indirect Measurement (Pythagorean): This mode allows for indirect measurement of heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (2 or 3 points).

4.4 Data Storage and Retrieval

The atolla T201 can store up to 20 measurement records.

  • Press the History button to view previous measurements. Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the records.

4.5 Addition and Subtraction

  • After taking a measurement, press the +/- UNIT button to enter addition or subtraction mode. Take subsequent measurements to add or subtract them from the current value.

4.6 Self-Calibration

If you suspect measurement inaccuracies, you can perform a self-calibration. The device allows adjustment by ±7mm.

  • Refer to the on-screen menu for specific instructions on initiating and completing the self-calibration process.

4.7 Mute Function

The device can operate silently, which is useful in quiet environments.

  • Press and hold the Reference / Mute button to toggle the sound on or off.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
