5. Setup

5.1 Mounting

The CLUBWASH 2 can be mounted in various orientations (truss, floor, wall) using appropriate clamps and brackets (not included). Always ensure the mounting surface or structure can support the weight of the fixture. Use a safety cable (not included) as a secondary attachment to prevent accidental drops.

5.2 Power Connection

Connect the supplied power cable to the Power IN socket on the rear of the unit and then to a suitable grounded power outlet. Ensure the local voltage matches the unit's requirements (AC 90-240V, 50/60Hz).

5.3 DMX Connection

For DMX control, connect a 3-pin XLR cable from your DMX controller's output to the DMX IN socket of the first CLUBWASH 2 unit. To daisy-chain multiple units, connect a DMX cable from the DMX OUT of the first unit to the DMX IN of the next. The last unit in the chain should have a DMX terminator connected to its DMX OUT socket to prevent signal reflection.

6. Control Panel Operation

The control panel, located at the base of the unit, features a digital display and four buttons for navigation:

  • MENU: Accesses the main menu or goes back to the previous menu level.
  • UP: Navigates up through menu options or increases parameter values.
  • DOWN: Navigates down through menu options or decreases parameter values.
  • ENTER: Confirms a selection or enters a submenu.

The display shows the current mode or parameter value. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to change values and ENTER to confirm.

7. Operating Modes

7.1 Standalone Mode

The CLUBWASH 2 features built-in programs that can operate without an external DMX controller. Access these programs via the control panel. Some programs may also be sound-activated, utilizing an internal microphone to synchronize with music.

7.2 Master/Slave Mode

In Master/Slave mode, one unit (the Master) controls other units (the Slaves). Connect the DMX OUT of the Master unit to the DMX IN of the first Slave unit, and continue daisy-chaining. Set the Master unit to a standalone program, and set all Slave units to 'Slave' mode via their control panels.

7.3 DMX Mode

For precise control, connect the CLUBWASH 2 to a DMX controller. Each unit requires a unique DMX start address. Set the DMX address via the control panel. Refer to the DMX Channel Chart for specific control functions.

8. DMX Channel Chart

The CLUBWASH 2 typically operates with a 16-channel DMX profile. Below is a common channel assignment:

JB Systems CLUBWASH 2 beam angle diagram

Figure 4: Diagram illustrating the beam angle and light intensity (LUX) at various distances for the CLUBWASH 2. The diagram shows a consistent beam angle of 25°.

This diagram indicates the light intensity (LUX) at different distances from the fixture. For example, at 1 meter, the LUX is approximately 12898, with a beam diameter of 44 cm. As the distance increases, the LUX decreases, and the beam diameter expands. The CLUBWASH 2 maintains a 25° beam angle.

10. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your CLUBWASH 2.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the lenses and exterior casing with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the cooling fan and ventilation openings are free from dust and debris. Use compressed air to clean if necessary.
  • Cable Checks: Regularly inspect power and DMX cables for any signs of damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the unit in a dry, dust-free environment.

11. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:

    • Check the fuse on the unit (if accessible and user-replaceable).
  • No DMX Control:
    • Ensure DMX cables are correctly connected (DMX OUT to DMX IN).
    • Verify the DMX address on the unit matches the address set on your controller.
    • Check for a DMX terminator on the last unit in the chain.
    • Test DMX cables for continuity.
  • Incorrect Color Output:
    • In DMX mode, check the DMX values for the individual color channels.
    • In standalone mode, try resetting the unit or selecting a different program.
