2. Safety Instructions

• Always unplug the machine from the power outlet when not in use, before cleaning, or when changing parts like needles or presser feet.

• Keep fingers away from the needle, presser foot, handwheel, and all moving parts during operation.

4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

1. Ensure the machine's speed control switch is in the "OFF" position.
2. Insert the power adapter plug into the power jack on the back of the machine.
3. Plug the adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.
4. If using the foot pedal, plug the foot pedal into its dedicated jack on the machine.

4.2 Winding the Bobbin

1. Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle.
2. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
3. Guide the thread through the bobbin winding tension disc.
4. Wrap the thread around the bobbin a few times clockwise.
5. Push the bobbin winder spindle to the right.
6. Turn on the machine to the "L" or "H" speed. The bobbin will start winding.
7. Once the bobbin is full, turn off the machine, cut the thread, and push the bobbin winder spindle back to the left. Remove the bobbin.

4.3 Threading the Upper Thread

1. Raise the needle to its highest position using the handwheel.
2. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
3. Guide the thread through the first thread guide.
4. Pass the thread down through the tension assembly.
5. Bring the thread up and through the take-up lever from right to left.
6. Guide the thread down through the remaining thread guides.
7. Thread the needle from front to back. Pull about 15 cm (6 inches) of thread through the needle eye.

4.4 Inserting the Bobbin

1. Open the bobbin cover plate located on the sewing bed.
2. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise).
3. Pull the bobbin thread through the small slot in the bobbin case.
4. Hold the upper thread lightly with one hand. Turn the handwheel towards you to lower and then raise the needle. The needle thread will catch the bobbin thread, bringing it up through the needle plate.
5. Pull both the upper and bobbin threads to the back under the presser foot.
6. Close the bobbin cover plate.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Stitch Selection

The YISSVIC FHSM-508-PLFR offers 16 different stitch patterns. To select a stitch, turn the stitch selection dial (located on the front of the machine) until the desired stitch number aligns with the indicator mark. Ensure the needle is in its highest position before changing stitches to prevent damage.

5.2 Speed Control

The machine has two speed settings: Low (L) and High (H). Use the speed control switch (located on the front-right base of the machine) to select your desired speed. For beginners or intricate work, the Low speed is recommended. For faster sewing on straight seams, use the High speed.

5.3 Foot Pedal vs. Hand Switch

You can operate the machine using either the foot pedal or the hand switch. If the foot pedal is connected, it overrides the hand switch. To use the foot pedal, ensure the speed control switch is in the "OFF" position, then press the pedal to start sewing. To use the hand switch, disconnect the foot pedal and select "L" or "H" on the speed control switch.

5.4 Reverse Stitching

To reinforce seams, such as at the beginning and end of a stitch, press and hold the reverse stitch lever (located above the needle area). The machine will sew backward as long as the lever is held down. Release the lever to resume forward stitching.

5.5 LED Sewing Light

The machine is equipped with an LED light to illuminate your sewing area. The light can be turned on or off independently using the dedicated switch, usually located near the light itself or on the main control panel.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Machine

• Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
• Use a soft brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and around the feed dogs.
• Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Changing the Needle

1. Unplug the machine.
2. Raise the needle to its highest position.
3. Loosen the needle clamp screw with a screwdriver.
4. Remove the old needle.
5. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, pushing it up as far as it will go.
6. Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
