5. Maintenance

5.1 General Care

Regularly clean the camera lenses with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear image quality. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Periodically check all cable connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.

5.2 Hard Drive Management

The 2TB HDD is designed for continuous recording. When the hard drive is full, the system will automatically overwrite the oldest footage. You can back up important recordings to an external storage device via the NVR's USB ports.

5.3 Firmware Updates

Ensure your NVR's firmware is up-to-date to benefit from the latest features, security enhancements, and bug fixes. Firmware updates can typically be performed through the NVR's system settings menu or via the Swann Security app when connected to the internet.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Swann Security Camera System, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Video Display: Check all video cable connections (HDMI/VGA) between the NVR and the monitor. Ensure the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source.
  • No Camera Footage: Verify that the Ethernet cables are securely connected to both the cameras and the NVR's PoE ports. Check if the camera's indicator lights are on. Restart the NVR.
  • No Remote Access: Ensure the NVR is connected to your network and has a stable internet connection. Verify that the Swann Security app is updated to the latest version and that your account credentials are correct.
  • Poor Image Quality: Clean the camera lens. Check for obstructions in the camera's field of view. Ensure the camera is set to 4K resolution in the NVR settings.
  • False Motion Alerts: Adjust the motion detection sensitivity settings in the NVR or app. Consider defining specific detection zones to exclude areas with frequent irrelevant motion (e.g., trees swaying).
