4. Setup and Battery Installation

5. Operating Instructions: TPMS Relearn Procedure

This tool is used to perform the TPMS relearn procedure after tire rotation, sensor replacement, or module replacement. Follow these steps carefully:

Step 1: Enter Relearn Mode

1. Set the gear selector to "P" (Park).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (engine off).
3. Navigate to the Tire Pressure Display Interface via the Driver Information Center (DIC).
4. The DIC will display "Press Set/Ctrl to Relearn".
5. Press the "Set/Ctrl" button.
6. The turn signal will illuminate for 3 seconds, and the horn will chirp twice, indicating the vehicle has entered relearn mode.

Step 2: Read Tire Pressure Sensor Information (Front Left Wheel First)

Begin the relearn process with the front left wheel.

1. Position the antenna of the EL-50448 tool (or J-46079 diagnostic tool) against the valve core position and near the sidewall of the tire.
2. Activate the EL-50448 tire pressure tool by pressing its activation switch.
3. The tire pressure sensor information will be successfully read when the vehicle's horn chirps once.

Step 3: Read Other Tire Pressure Sensor Information

Continue the process for the remaining tires in the following order:

• Front Right Wheel
• Rear Right Wheel
• Rear Left Wheel

Follow the same procedure as described in Step 2 for each wheel. The turn signals will illuminate for 3 seconds, and the horn will chirp twice when the entire relearn process is complete.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during the TPMS relearn process, consider the following:

• Tool Not Activating: Ensure the 9V battery is new and correctly installed. Check for any corrosion in the battery compartment.
• No Horn Chirp: Verify that the vehicle is correctly in "relearn mode" (Step 1). Ensure the tool's antenna is positioned directly over the valve stem and close to the tire sidewall. Some vehicles may require the tool to be held at a specific angle or distance.
• Incorrect Order: Always follow the specified relearn order (Front Left, Front Right, Rear Right, Rear Left). Deviating from this order may prevent successful relearn.
• Vehicle Compatibility: While this tool is universal for many GM vehicles, confirm your specific vehicle model and year are compatible with the EL-50448/OEC-T5 tool. Consult your vehicle's service manual for specific TPMS relearn procedures.
• Environmental Interference: Perform the relearn procedure in an area free from strong electromagnetic interference.
