Operating Instructions

The WLtoys K989 RC car features a 2.4GHz frequency remote control system, allowing for interference-free operation up to approximately 100 meters. The car is designed for high-speed racing and drifting.

Basic Controls

  • Throttle Trigger: Pull the trigger to move forward. Push the trigger to brake or reverse.
  • Steering Wheel: Turn the wheel left to steer the car left, and right to steer the car right.
  • Trim Adjustments: Use the steering trim dial on the remote to fine-tune the car's straight-line tracking if it veers to one side when the steering wheel is centered.

Driving Tips

  • The car's anti-skid drift tires allow for U-shape drifts. Practice throttle and steering control to master drifting techniques.
  • Operate on smooth, clean surfaces for best performance and to prevent damage to the chassis and components.
  • Avoid driving on rough terrain, sand, or wet surfaces.
  • The maximum speed is approximately 30 KM/H. Adjust your driving style to suit the environment and your skill level.

Maintenance

Cleaning

After each use, especially if driven outdoors, clean the car to remove dirt, dust, and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean the chassis, wheels, and body. Avoid using water or harsh chemicals directly on electronic components.

Battery Care and Storage

  • Always disconnect the battery from the car when not in use.
  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • For long-term storage, it is recommended to store the battery at a partial charge (around 50-60%) rather than fully charged or fully discharged.

General Inspection

Periodically inspect the car for any loose screws, damaged parts, or worn tires. Replace any damaged components promptly to maintain performance and safety.

Troubleshooting

  • Car not responding: Ensure both the car and remote control are powered on and batteries are charged. Re-pair the remote control if necessary.
  • Reduced performance/short run time: The battery may not be fully charged or may be nearing the end of its lifespan. Ensure proper charging and consider replacing the battery if performance continues to degrade.
  • Car pulls to one side: Adjust the steering trim on the remote control. Check for any obstructions or damage to the steering mechanism.
  • Loss of control/interference: Ensure you are within the operating range (approx. 100m) and there are no strong radio interference sources nearby.
