1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Instructions

Observe the following safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:

  • Read all instructions before use.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.

  • Avoid contact with moving parts.

3. Product Components

Familiarize yourself with the main parts of your coffee machine:

  1. Control Panel: Features backlit buttons and a rotary dial for selecting coffee type and strength.
  2. Coffee Bean Hopper: Located at the top, for whole coffee beans.
  3. Ground Coffee Funnel: For pre-ground coffee.
  4. Water Tank: Removable, located at the side/rear.
  5. Steam Wand (Cappuccino System): For frothing milk.
  6. Coffee Spouts: Adjustable height for different cup sizes.
  7. Drip Tray & Grounds Container: Collects excess water and used coffee grounds.
  8. Brew Group: Internal, removable component for brewing coffee.

4. Initial Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

  • Remove all packaging materials.
  • Place the machine on a stable, level surface, away from water splashes and heat sources.

4.2 Filling the Water Tank

  • Remove the water tank from the machine.
  • Fill it with fresh, cold tap water up to the MAX level.
  • Replace the water tank securely.

4.3 Adding Coffee Beans

  • Open the lid of the coffee bean hopper.
  • Pour fresh coffee beans into the hopper. Do not overfill.
  • Close the lid.

4.4 Adjusting the Grinder

The conical burr grinder has 13 adjustable settings. Adjust the grind fineness using the dial inside the bean hopper. Turn clockwise for a finer grind (stronger coffee) and counter-clockwise for a coarser grind (lighter coffee). Adjust only when the grinder is operating.

4.5 First Use and Rinsing Cycle

After initial setup, the machine will perform an automatic rinsing cycle. Follow the on-screen prompts or indicator lights. This prepares the internal circuits for optimal coffee brewing.

5. Operating the Machine

5.1 Making Espresso or Coffee

  1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean hopper contains coffee beans.
  2. Place one or two cups under the coffee spouts.
  3. Press the Espresso or Coffee button. The machine will grind the beans and dispense the coffee.
  4. To adjust coffee strength, turn the rotary dial on the control panel before pressing the coffee button.

5.2 Using Pre-Ground Coffee

  • Press the pre-ground coffee button (usually indicated by a spoon icon).
  • Open the funnel for pre-ground coffee and add one level scoop of pre-ground coffee. Do not add more than one scoop.
  • Place a cup under the spouts and press the desired coffee button (Espresso, Coffee, etc.).

5.3 Frothing Milk with the Steam Wand

  1. Fill a pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
  2. Position the steam wand into the milk, just below the surface.
  3. Press the steam button (usually indicated by a steam icon). Wait for the machine to heat up.
  4. Once steam is dispensed, move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
  5. When desired foam and temperature are reached, press the steam button again to stop.
  6. Clean the steam wand immediately after use.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your machine.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray and Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily. The machine will indicate when the grounds container needs emptying (after 14 cups or 72 hours).
  • Steam Wand: Wipe with a damp cloth immediately after each use to prevent milk residue buildup.

6.2 Brew Group Cleaning

  • Turn off and unplug the machine.
  • Remove the water tank and open the service door.
  • Press the two release buttons and pull out the brew group.
  • Rinse the brew group under running water. Do not use detergents.
  • Clean the inside of the machine with a brush or cloth.
  • Reinsert the brew group and close the service door.

6.3 Descaling

The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use only De'Longhi descaling solution and follow the instructions provided with the descaler or in the machine's display/manual. This process is crucial for removing mineral deposits and maintaining machine efficiency.

6.4 Water Filter

If using a water filter, replace it approximately every two months, or as indicated by the machine.

7. Troubleshooting
