Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating the solar kit. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or property damage.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses and insulated gloves during installation.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify any component of the solar kit.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
  • Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the solar power system.
  • Avoid touching live electrical components.
  • Install the solar panels in a location with adequate ventilation and away from flammable materials.
  • WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Setup and Installation

1. Solar Panel Placement

Select a location for your solar panels that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day, free from obstructions like trees or buildings. The panels are rugged enough for permanent outdoor mounting or mobile applications such as RVs and boats.

2. Mounting the Solar Panels

Use the provided mounting brackets and hardware to securely fasten the solar panels in your chosen location. Ensure the panels are angled to optimize sun exposure, especially during peak sunlight hours.

3. Wiring the System

The kit features plug-and-play connections for minimal installation time. Follow the diagram below for proper wiring sequence. A 12-Volt battery (not included) is required to store the generated power.

  1. Connect the solar panels to the charge controller using the provided cables. Ensure positive (+) and negative (-) connections are correct.
  2. Connect the charge controller to your 12-Volt battery. Connect the positive terminal of the charge controller to the positive terminal of the battery, and the negative to the negative.
  3. Connect the 750-Watt power inverter to the 12-Volt battery. Ensure the inverter's positive terminal connects to the battery's positive, and the inverter's negative to the battery's negative.

Operating Instructions

Once the system is fully installed and connected, the solar panels will begin converting sunlight into electricity, which is then regulated by the charge controller and stored in your 12-Volt battery. The power inverter converts the DC power from the battery into AC power for your appliances.

  • Charge Controller: The charge controller manages the flow of electricity from the solar panels to the battery, preventing overcharging and optimizing battery life. Refer to the charge controller's specific manual for detailed display and setting adjustments.
  • Power Inverter: To use the inverter, ensure it is connected to the battery and turn on its power switch. Plug your AC appliances into the inverter's outlets. Do not exceed the inverter's rated wattage (750 Watts).
  • Monitoring: Periodically check the charge controller display to monitor battery voltage and charging status.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your solar kit.

  • Solar Panels: Clean the surface of the solar panels periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and debris. A clean panel ensures maximum sunlight absorption. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Connections: Annually inspect all electrical connections for tightness and corrosion. Loose or corroded connections can lead to power loss or safety hazards.
  • Battery: If using a lead-acid battery, check electrolyte levels regularly and top up with distilled water as needed. Keep battery terminals clean and free of corrosion.
  • Charge Controller & Inverter: Keep these components in a dry, well-ventilated area. Ensure cooling vents are not obstructed.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your solar kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power output from panelsInsufficient sunlight; dirty panels; loose connections; faulty panelEnsure panels are in direct sunlight; clean panel surfaces; check all wiring connections; test individual panel output.
Battery not chargingCharge controller issue; faulty battery; incorrect wiring; low solar inputVerify charge controller settings; test battery health; recheck wiring diagram; ensure adequate sunlight.
Inverter not workingLow battery voltage; overloaded inverter; loose connections; inverter faultCharge battery fully; reduce load on inverter; check battery and inverter connections; consult inverter manual.
Low power output from inverterLow battery charge; high power demand; inefficient inverter operationEnsure battery is fully charged; reduce number of connected appliances; check inverter specifications.
