4. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the cooker for any damage.
  2. Wash: Before first use, wash the cooker body, lid, gasket, and weight valve with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Inspect Gasket: Ensure the gasket is properly seated in the lid groove. It should be flexible and free from cracks or damage.
  4. Check Vent Tube: Hold the lid against a light source and look through the vent tube to ensure it is clear.
  5. Test Run (Optional but Recommended):
    • Add 2-3 cups of water to the cooker.
    • Close the lid securely (see "Operating Instructions").
    • Place the weight valve on the vent tube.
    • Heat on medium-high until steam escapes from the weight valve.
    • Reduce heat and let it steam for 5-10 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and allow pressure to release naturally.
    • Open the lid (see "Operating Instructions"). This helps to clean the cooker and familiarize you with its operation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Filling the Cooker

  • Add food and the required amount of liquid to the cooker.
  • Do not fill above 2/3 capacity. For foods that expand (e.g., rice, lentils), do not fill above 1/2 capacity.

5.2. Closing the Lid

Align the lid with the cooker body, ensuring the gasket is correctly positioned. Lower the lid onto the cooker body and rotate the lid handle to align with the body handle. The lid should fit snugly and securely. Do not force it.

5.3. Cooking Under Pressure

  1. Place the weight valve (regulator) on the vent tube of the lid.
  2. Place the cooker on a heat source (gas, induction, electric stovetop).
  3. Heat on high until steam starts escaping from the weight valve. The pressure indicator will rise.
  4. Once steam begins to escape steadily, reduce the heat to maintain a gentle, steady steam release.
  5. Cook for the recommended time according to your recipe.

5.4. Releasing Pressure and Opening the Lid

There are two methods for releasing pressure:

  • Natural Release: Remove the cooker from the heat source and allow it to cool down naturally. The pressure indicator will drop completely, and no steam will escape when the weight valve is gently nudged. This method is ideal for foods that benefit from continued cooking.
  • Quick Release (Use with Caution): For faster pressure release, you can carefully place the cooker under cold running water, avoiding the weight valve and vent tube, until the pressure indicator drops. Alternatively, you can lift the weight valve using a utensil (never your hand) to release steam. Always ensure the pressure indicator has dropped completely before attempting to open the lid.

Once pressure is fully released, gently rotate the lid handle to unlock and lift the lid. Always open the lid away from your face to avoid residual steam.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, wash the cooker body, lid, gasket, and weight valve with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent water spots.
  • Gasket Care: Remove the gasket from the lid after each use for cleaning. Store it loosely or hang it to prevent deformation. Replace the gasket if it becomes hard, cracked, or loses its elasticity (typically every 6-12 months depending on usage).
  • Vent Tube: Ensure the vent tube is always clear. Use a small brush or pin if necessary to remove any food particles.
  • Safety Plug: Periodically check the metallic safety plug for any blockages or damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Exterior: For stubborn stains on the stainless steel exterior, use a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner.
  • Dishwasher Safety: This item is not dishwasher safe. Hand washing is recommended.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Steam leaks from around the lid.Gasket not properly seated, gasket worn out, lid not closed correctly, food particles on rim.Reposition gasket, replace gasket, ensure lid is securely closed, clean rim and gasket.
Pressure does not build up.Lid not sealed, vent tube blocked, insufficient liquid, heat too low.Check lid seal, clear vent tube, add more liquid, increase heat.
Food is undercooked.Insufficient cooking time, heat too low, pressure not maintained.Increase cooking time, ensure proper heat, check for steam leaks.
Lid cannot be opened after cooking.Residual pressure inside.Do not force. Allow pressure to release completely (natural or quick release method). The pressure indicator must be fully down.
