User Manual: JDS6600 Series Dual-Channel DDS Function Signal Generator

Brand: KYHOPE | Model: JDS6600 (15 MHz)

1. Introduction

The KYHOPE JDS6600 series Dual-Channel DDS Function Signal Generator is a versatile instrument designed for generating various waveforms. It integrates multiple functions including a Function Signal Generator, Arbitrary Waveform Generator, Pulse Generator, Sweep Generator, Counter, and Frequency Meter.

This instrument utilizes Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) technology to produce stable, precise, pure, and low-distortion signals. It is capable of generating sine, square, triangle, pulse, and arbitrary waves. The device simultaneously displays output signal, amplitude, and frequency, making it suitable for applications in factories, schools, research institutes, and laboratories.

2. Key Features

  • Dual-Channel Output: Provides two independent channels for simultaneous signal generation.
  • Multiple Waveforms: Generates sine wave, square wave, triangle wave, pulse wave, and arbitrary wave.
  • DDS Technology: Ensures stable, precise, pure, and low-distortion signal output.
  • Output Short-Circuit Protection: All signal outputs are protected and can operate for 60 seconds under load short-circuit conditions.
  • User-Friendly Interface: Features soft silicone keys for high sensitivity and convenient operation.
  • Real-time Display: Shows output signal, amplitude, and frequency concurrently.
  • Advanced Functions: Includes duty-cycle correction, amplitude modulation, and frequency sweep functions.

4. Setup Instructions

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the JDS6600 signal generator and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in Figure 3.2 are present.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input port on the rear of the unit. Plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet (AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz).
  3. Initial Power On: Press the power button located on the front panel to turn on the device. The display screen should illuminate, indicating successful power-up.
  4. Output Connections:
    • For Channel 1 (CH1) output, connect a BNC cable to the CH1 port.
    • For Channel 2 (CH2) output, connect a BNC cable to the CH2 port.
    • Connect the other end of the BNC cable to your testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, frequency counter).
  5. External Input (Optional): If using the external input for frequency measurement or external modulation, connect the signal source to the "Ext. In" port.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Basic Waveform Generation

  1. Select Channel: Use the CH1 or CH2 buttons on the front panel to select the desired output channel.
  2. Select Waveform: Press the WAVE button to cycle through available waveforms (Sine, Square, Triangle, Pulse, Arbitrary). The selected waveform will be displayed on the screen.
  3. Adjust Frequency: Use the rotary encoder knob to adjust the frequency. Press the FREQ button to select the digit to adjust, then rotate the knob.
  4. Adjust Amplitude: Press the AMPL button to adjust the amplitude. Use the rotary encoder to set the desired voltage.
  5. Enable Output: Ensure the output for the selected channel is enabled. There is typically an ON/OFF toggle for each channel on the display or a dedicated button.

5.2. Duty Cycle Adjustment (for Square/Pulse Waves)

For square and pulse waveforms, the duty cycle can be adjusted:

  1. Select a Square or Pulse waveform.
  2. Press the DUTY button.
  3. Use the rotary encoder to set the desired duty cycle percentage.

5.3. Frequency Sweep Function

The sweep function allows the output frequency to vary automatically within a defined range.

  1. Press the SYS button to access system settings, then navigate to the Sweep menu.
  2. Set the Start Frequency, End Frequency, and Sweep Time.
  3. Select the Sweep Mode (e.g., Linear, Logarithmic).
  4. Activate the sweep function.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect all cables and connectors for signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website (KYHOPE) periodically for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

7. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Device does not power on. Power cable not connected properly or power outlet is faulty. Check power cable connection. Try a different power outlet. Ensure power adapter is functional.
No signal output. Output channel not enabled, incorrect settings, or faulty cable. Ensure the selected channel's output is enabled. Verify frequency and amplitude settings. Check BNC cables for damage and proper connection.
Display is blank or frozen. Software glitch or internal error. Power off the device, wait 10 seconds, then power it back on. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
