Setup
Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the 12V MAX* 3.0Ah Lithium Ion battery. Refer to the charger's instruction manual for specific charging procedures and indicators.
- Connect the charger to a suitable power outlet.
- Slide the battery pack onto the charger until it clicks into place.
- Allow the battery to charge until the charger indicates a full charge (refer to charger manual for light patterns).
- Once charged, remove the battery from the charger.
Installing/Removing the Blade
The DCS312 features a tool-free blade release for quick and easy blade changes.
- Ensure the battery pack is removed from the tool before changing blades.
- To install a blade, lift the blade clamp lever located near the front of the saw.
- Insert the shank of the reciprocating saw blade fully into the blade clamp opening.
- Release the blade clamp lever. Tug on the blade to ensure it is securely locked in place.
- To remove a blade, lift the blade clamp lever and pull the blade straight out.
Operating Instructions
General Operation
- Insert a fully charged battery pack into the tool until it clicks securely.
- Select the appropriate blade for your cutting material (e.g., wood, metal).
- Position the shoe of the saw firmly against the workpiece.
- Depress the variable-speed trigger to start the saw. The speed of the blade is controlled by how far the trigger is depressed.
- Guide the saw through the material, allowing the blade to do the cutting. Do not force the tool.
- Release the trigger to stop the saw.
Cutting Tips
- For plunge cuts, ensure the blade is sharp and the shoe is firmly against the material.
- Always secure the workpiece to prevent movement during cutting.
- Allow the blade to cool down during extended use, especially when cutting metal.
- The integrated LED light will illuminate the work surface when the trigger is pressed.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Always disconnect the battery pack before cleaning.
