1. Introduction

The ELRO ARD51 Electronic Guard Dog is designed to enhance your home security by deterring potential intruders with realistic dog barking sounds. Utilizing advanced radar technology, this device detects movement through walls, doors, and windows, providing an effective and discreet security solution. It offers multiple sound options, including barking, an alarm, and a doorbell chime, with adjustable volume and detection range.

2. Safety Information

  • Read all instructions carefully before use.
  • Do not expose the device to water or excessive moisture.
  • Use only the provided power adapter or specified batteries (8 x 1.5V AA).
  • Keep the device out of reach of children.
  • The device can produce sounds up to 120 dB. Avoid prolonged exposure to high volume levels to prevent hearing damage.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

Note: 8 x 1.5V AA batteries are not included and must be purchased separately if battery operation is desired.

4. Setup

4.1 Powering the Device

The ELRO ARD51 can be powered by either the included AC adapter or 8 AA batteries.

  1. Using the AC Adapter: Plug the small end of the adapter into the DC 12V input port on the back of the unit. Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.
  2. Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the unit. Insert 8 x 1.5V AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery compartment securely.

4.2 Placement

For optimal performance, place the ELRO ARD51 in a discreet location near an exterior wall or door that you wish to monitor. The radar sensor can detect movement through various materials, including wood, concrete, and plastic, up to 18 cm thick.

  • Position the unit where its detection field covers the desired area.
  • Avoid placing it directly behind large metal objects, which may interfere with radar detection.

4.3 Applying the Security Sticker

The included security sticker can be placed on a window or door to visually deter potential intruders, indicating the presence of a guard dog.

5. Operating the Device

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the On/Off button located on the top of the unit to power the device on or off.

5.2 Selecting Sound Mode

The ELRO ARD51 offers three distinct sound modes:

  • Barking Dog: Realistic 3D dog barking sound to simulate a guard dog.
  • Alarm: A loud siren sound for general security alerts.
  • Doorbell (Ding-dong): A chime sound, useful for welcoming visitors in a retail or office setting.

Use the Select button on the top panel to cycle through these sound modes.

5.3 Adjusting Volume

The volume can be adjusted from 70 dB to a maximum of 120 dB. Use the Vol+ and Vol- buttons on the top panel to increase or decrease the sound level.

5.4 Adjusting Detection Range

The radar sensor's detection range is adjustable from approximately 9 to 16 meters. A switch inside the battery compartment allows you to set the sensitivity:

  • High: Maximum detection range.
  • Mid: Medium detection range.
  • Low: Minimum detection range.

To adjust, open the battery compartment and slide the switch to your desired setting.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: If using batteries, replace all 8 AA batteries simultaneously when the power indicator light dims or the device's performance decreases. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
  • Storage: If storing the device for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store in a cool, dry place.

7. Troubleshooting
