4. Setup

Follow these steps for the initial setup of your laser distance meter:

1. Battery Installation: Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device. Open the compartment cover. Insert the two supplied Alkaline batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. First Power On: Press the ON button to power on the device. The display will illuminate.
3. Unit Selection: The device may default to a specific unit of measurement. To change units (e.g., meters, feet, inches), press the UNITS button repeatedly until your desired unit is displayed.

5. Operating Instructions

The Crown CT44031 Laser Distance Meter is designed for straightforward operation. Here are the basic steps for taking measurements:

• Power On/Off:
  • Press the ON button to turn the device on.
  • Press the C/OFF button to turn the device off or to clear the current measurement.
• Single Distance Measurement:
  1. Point the laser beam at the target surface.
  2. Press the ON button again. The laser will activate, and the measured distance will appear on the display.
• Continuous Measurement (Tracking):
  • From the single measurement mode, press and hold the ON button. The device will continuously measure and update the distance as you move it.
  • Release the button to stop continuous measurement.
• Unit Conversion:
  • Press the UNITS button to cycle through available measurement units (e.g., meters, feet, inches).
• Addition/Subtraction of Measurements:
  • After taking a measurement, press the +/- button to enter addition or subtraction mode.
  • Take another measurement. The device will automatically add or subtract it from the previous reading, depending on the selected mode.
  • Refer to the display icons for current mode indication.

Note: The maximum measuring range of this device is 100 meters (approximately 328 feet). Ensure the target surface is reflective enough for accurate readings.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device, especially the lens and display. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used. Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning agents.
