  • Do not place the crib near windows where cords from blinds or drapes could strangle a child.
  • Do not place items with a string or cord around a child's neck, such as hood strings or pacifier cords.

Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not proceed with assembly. Contact customer support.

  • Crib Frame Components (sides, ends, mattress support)
  • 2-inch Foam Mattress
  • Locking Wheels (casters)
  • Assembly Hardware (screws, bolts, wrench, etc.)

Setup and Assembly

Assembly is required. It is recommended to assemble the crib in the room where it will be used. Ensure you have adequate space and all tools provided or required.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Lay them out on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches.
  2. Attach Wheels: Insert the locking wheels into the designated holes at the bottom of the crib legs. Ensure they click securely into place. Two wheels are locking; position them on the same side for easier access.
  3. Assemble Frame: Follow the detailed diagrams provided in the separate assembly guide (not included in this general manual) to connect the side and end panels. Ensure all bolts are tightened securely using the provided wrench. Do not overtighten.
  4. Install Mattress Support: Position the mattress support at the desired height. The crib offers two mattress positions. For newborns, the higher position is generally used. For infants who can push up on hands and knees or pull themselves to a standing position, the lowest position must be used. Secure the mattress support firmly with the provided hardware.
  5. Place Mattress: Lay the 2-inch foam mattress onto the mattress support. Ensure it fits snugly without gaps larger than 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) at any point around the perimeter.
  6. Final Check: Before first use, double-check all connections and hardware to ensure they are tight and secure. Confirm that the locking wheels engage properly.

Operating Instructions

Adjusting Mattress Height

The crib features two adjustable mattress positions to accommodate your child's growth:

  • Higher Position: Suitable for newborns and younger infants who cannot yet sit up or pull themselves to a standing position. This position allows for easier access to your baby.
  • Lower Position: Essential for older infants who can sit up, crawl, or pull themselves to a standing position. This prevents the child from climbing out of the crib. To adjust, remove the mattress, unfasten the mattress support from its current position, lower it to the desired position, and re-secure it with all hardware. Always ensure all fasteners are tight after adjustment.

Using Locking Wheels

The crib is equipped with non-marking casters, two of which are locking. To move the crib, unlock both locking wheels by flipping their levers. To secure the crib in a stationary position, engage both locking wheels by flipping their levers down. Ensure the crib is stable and does not move before placing a child inside.

Maintenance and Care

Regular maintenance ensures the safety and longevity of your crib.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the crib frame with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish. The non-porous finish is designed for easy cleaning and resists scratches.
  • Mattress Care: The included foam mattress has a non-porous finish. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Allow to air dry completely before placing back in the crib.
  • Hardware Checks: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and other hardware to ensure they are tight and secure. Do not overtighten.
  • Storage: If storing the crib for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Child Craft Siesta Crib, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Crib feels unstable or wobbly:
    • Check all assembly hardware. Ensure all bolts and screws are fully tightened.
    • Verify that the mattress support is correctly installed and secured at both ends.
  • Wheels are not locking or rolling smoothly:
    • Ensure the locking levers are fully engaged or disengaged.
    • Check for any debris or obstructions in the wheel mechanisms. Clean if necessary.
    • Verify that the wheels are securely inserted into the crib legs.
  • Mattress does not fit correctly:
    • Ensure you are using the included 2-inch foam mattress or a replacement mattress with dimensions 24" x 38" and a maximum thickness of 2 inches.
    • Check for any foreign objects or misaligned components preventing the mattress from lying flat.
  • Missing or damaged parts:
    • Do not use the crib. Contact Childcraft customer support immediately for replacement parts.
