4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Initial Power-Up and Display

After installation and restoring power, the thermostat's large LCD display will illuminate. It typically shows the current room temperature, the set temperature, the current time, and the day of the week. Use the touch controls (left arrow, up arrow, down arrow, OK) located at the bottom of the display to navigate menus and adjust settings.

4.2 Setting Time and Day

Access the settings menu to adjust the current time and day. Follow the on-screen prompts, using the up/down arrows to change values and the OK button to confirm.

4.3 Programming the 7-Day Schedule

The ET-72 allows for a 7-day programmable schedule with 4 or 2 stages per day. This feature enables you to set different temperatures for various times of the day and days of the week, optimizing comfort and energy efficiency.

  1. Enter the programming mode via the menu.
  2. Select the day or group of days you wish to program.
  3. For each stage (e.g., Wake, Leave, Return, Sleep), set the desired start time and temperature.
  4. Confirm settings for each stage and day.

4.4 Sensor Applications

The thermostat offers three sensor application modes:

  • Room: Controls room temperature based solely on the built-in sensor.
  • Floor: Controls the floor temperature based solely on the external floor sensor.
  • Room.Limit: Controls the room temperature based on the built-in sensor while simultaneously monitoring the floor temperature to ensure it does not exceed a user-defined upper limit. This mode provides both ambient comfort and floor protection.

Select the appropriate sensor mode from the thermostat's settings menu based on your heating system configuration and preferences.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Monthly GFCI Test

It is crucial to test the built-in GFCI function monthly to ensure proper operation and continued protection against electric shock. Follow these steps:

  1. Press the 'TEST' button on the thermostat. The GFCI should trip, and the power to the heating system should cut off.
  2. Press the 'RESET' button to restore power.
  3. If the GFCI does not trip or reset correctly, discontinue use and contact a qualified electrician immediately.

5.2 Cleaning

Clean the thermostat's display and casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the surface.
