1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your IBO 1500W Submersible Pump with Chopper. Please read these instructions carefully before use and retain them for future reference.
The IBO 1500W submersible pump is designed for pumping both clean and dirty water. Its robust construction and special chopping mechanism make it suitable for handling wastewater from septic tanks, flooded basements, and emptying swimming pools. The pump's high capacity ensures quick water removal.
2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or property damage.
- Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or when the pump is not in use.
- Ensure the power supply voltage matches the pump's specifications (230V).
- Do not operate the pump with a damaged power cord or plug. If damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified electrician.
- Never lift or carry the pump by its power cord. Use the handle provided.
- Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the operating area.
- Do not use the pump in explosive atmospheres or for pumping flammable liquids.
- Ensure the pump is fully submerged during operation to prevent overheating.
- The pump is designed for water. Do not use it for pumping chemicals, oils, or other corrosive substances.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection when handling the pump.
3. Product Components
The IBO 1500W Submersible Pump includes the following main components:
- Pump Unit (Cast Iron Housing)
- Chopping Mechanism
- Float Switch (for automatic operation)
- Power Cable with Plug
- Discharge Outlet (5 cm / 2 inch)
- Handle

4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the pump and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any damage during transit.
- Hose Connection: Attach the supplied 2-inch Storz C hose connector to the pump's discharge outlet. Secure it firmly to prevent leaks.
- Hose Deployment: Connect the 50m hose to the Storz C connector. Lay out the hose to the desired discharge location, ensuring it is free of kinks or sharp bends that could restrict flow.
- Placement: Lower the pump into the water or liquid to be pumped. Ensure the pump is placed on a stable, level surface and is fully submerged. The float switch should be able to move freely.
- Power Connection: Plug the pump's power cable into a grounded 230V electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) for safety.

5. Operating Instructions
- Automatic Operation (Float Switch):
- The float switch controls the pump's automatic on/off function.
- When the water level rises, the float switch will lift, activating the pump.
- When the water level drops to a certain point, the float switch will lower, deactivating the pump.
- Ensure the float switch has sufficient space to move freely and is not obstructed.
- Manual Operation:
- For continuous operation, the float switch can be secured in an upright position (e.g., by tying it to the pump handle).
- CAUTION: When operating manually, monitor the water level closely to prevent the pump from running dry, which can cause severe damage.
- Starting the Pump: Once connected and placed, the pump will start automatically if the float switch is in the "on" position (or secured for manual operation).
- Stopping the Pump: In automatic mode, the pump stops when the water level drops. For manual operation or to stop immediately, disconnect the pump from the power supply.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your pump.
- Before Maintenance: Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before any inspection or maintenance.
- Cleaning: After each use, especially when pumping dirty water, rinse the pump thoroughly with clean water to remove any debris or sediment.
- Chopping Mechanism Inspection: Periodically inspect the chopping mechanism for any entangled debris (e.g., rags, long fibers) that might hinder its function. Clear any obstructions carefully.
- Float Switch Check: Ensure the float switch moves freely and is not clogged with debris.
- Cable Inspection: Regularly check the power cable and plug for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. Do not use the pump if the cable is damaged.
- Storage: If storing the pump for an extended period, clean it thoroughly, drain all water, and store it in a dry, frost-free location.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start. | No power supply. Float switch not activated. Motor thermal overload. | Check power connection and circuit breaker. Ensure water level is high enough to lift float switch, or manually activate. Disconnect power, allow pump to cool for 30 minutes, then restart. |
| Pump runs but no water is discharged or flow is low. | Discharge hose kinked or blocked. Inlet screen or chopping mechanism clogged. Pump not fully submerged. | Check and clear hose obstructions. Disconnect power, clean inlet screen and chopping mechanism. Ensure pump is fully submerged in water. |
| Pump stops unexpectedly. | Water level too low (float switch deactivated). Thermal overload. Power interruption. | Check water level. Allow pump to cool down. Check power supply. |
| Excessive vibration or noise. | Debris caught in impeller/chopper. Pump not stable. | Disconnect power, inspect and clear debris from impeller/chopper. Ensure pump is placed on a stable, level surface. |
If problems persist after attempting these solutions, please contact qualified service personnel.
