Setup and Installation
Unpacking
Carefully remove the refrigerator from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. Retain all packaging materials for potential future transport or returns.
Placement
The compact design of this refrigerator allows for flexible placement. It can be installed inside RVs, under tables, or within built-in cabinets. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit, especially when operating on propane, to prevent heat buildup and ensure efficient operation.

Connecting to Propane (LPG)
The refrigerator comes with a gas hose and regulator for propane connection. Ensure all valves between the gas container and the refrigerator are open before connecting.
- Connect one end of the gas hose (with the regulator) to your propane gas tank.
- Connect the other end of the gas hose to the designated gas inlet on the back of the refrigerator.
- Ensure both connections are firmly secured to prevent gas leaks.

Connecting to Electrical Power (110V AC / 12V DC)
For 110V AC operation, simply plug the refrigerator into a standard wall outlet. For 12V DC operation, connect the appropriate 12V DC cable to your vehicle's power source or a compatible battery system. Ensure correct polarity for DC connections.

Operating Instructions
The refrigerator features a multi-function control panel on top for easy operation and mode selection.

Power Source Selection
Use the rotary switch (labeled 'Mode Switch Button' or 'F' in some diagrams) on the control panel to select your desired power source: Gas, DC12V, or AC. Turn the knob to the corresponding setting.
Gas Ignition (Battery Ignition Type)
If your model has a battery ignition:
- Set the rotary switch to 'Gas'.
- Depress the safety device control (C) and hold it down while depressing the igniter switch (A).
- Check the flame indicator (B) to see whether the flame is alight.
- Keep the safety device control (C) depressed for a further 10-15 seconds.
- Release the safety device control (C) and again check to see that the flame is alight.
Gas Ignition (Piezo Igniter Type)
If your model has a piezo igniter:
- Set the rotary switch to 'Gas'.
- Push the ignition switch (E). You may hear a "ka" sound as the igniter pin sparks.
- Once the flame indicator (B) starts to move into the green area, release the igniter button (E).
- Confirm the flame is alight by checking that the needle remains in the green area of the flame indicator.

Temperature Control
Adjust the thermostat knob (D) to your desired temperature setting. The refrigerator is designed to maintain temperatures between 32℉ and 50℉ (0℃ and 10℃). Allow 8 to 10 hours for the unit to reach the set temperature after initial startup.

Maintenance
The SMETA absorption refrigerator is designed for low maintenance due to its lack of moving parts, contributing to a service life of up to 20 years. Regular cleaning and proper ventilation are key to optimal performance.
General Cleaning
- Unplug the refrigerator and turn off the gas supply before cleaning.
- Wipe down the interior and exterior surfaces with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Clean removable shelves and door bins with warm, soapy water.
- Ensure the rear ventilation area is free from dust and debris to maintain efficient cooling.
Absorption System Maintenance
If the cooling performance seems reduced, the absorption system may need to be reset. This can often be achieved by simply turning the refrigerator over (upside down), letting it sit for a period (e.g., 24 hours), and then restoring it to its upright position. This process helps to redistribute the internal fluids. Allow time for the system to stabilize after this procedure.
Exhaust System (for Indoor Use)
If using the refrigerator indoors with propane, an optional exhaust kit is available to vent combustion byproducts outside. This kit typically includes an exhaust pipe and a wall cover for rain protection.

Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your SMETA refrigerator.
Gas Burner Not Lighting
- Check Gas Supply: Ensure the propane tank has gas and all valves are fully open.
- Ignition Attempts: If the burner does not light after 4-5 attempts, turn off the gas tap, wait 5 minutes, and then try to re-light. This allows any accumulated gas to dissipate.
- Battery Check (Battery Ignition Models): If the battery ignition fails to spark, the battery may need to be replaced.
- Flame Indicator: Ensure the flame indicator moves to the green area after ignition attempts. If it remains red, the flame has not successfully ignited.
- Professional Service: If issues persist, contact an authorized service provider.
Refrigerator Not Cooling or Freezing Items
- Temperature Setting: Adjust the thermostat knob to a higher or lower setting as needed. Allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow around the refrigerator, especially at the rear. Blocked vents can impair cooling efficiency.
- Level Surface: Absorption refrigerators operate best on a level surface. Ensure the unit is stable and not tilted.
- Absorption System Reset: If cooling is severely impacted, consider performing the absorption system reset procedure described in the Maintenance section.
Door Not Staying Closed
- Check Latch Mechanism: Inspect the door latch for any obstructions or damage.
- Ensure Leveling: An unlevel refrigerator can cause the door to swing open. Adjust the unit's position to ensure it is level.
- Secure During Travel: For RV or mobile use, it is highly recommended to secure the refrigerator door with an external latch or strap during transit to prevent accidental opening and contents spilling.
