4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the ON/MEASURE button. The laser will activate.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the C/OFF button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.

5.2 Basic Single Measurement

  1. Press the ON/MEASURE button to activate the laser.
  2. Aim the laser dot at the target point.
  3. Press the ON/MEASURE button again. The measured distance will appear on the display.

5.3 Continuous Measurement (Tracking)

  1. Press the ON/MEASURE button to activate the laser.
  2. Press and hold the ON/MEASURE button (or press twice quickly, depending on firmware) to enter continuous measurement mode. The display will show real-time distance updates as you move the device.
  3. Press the ON/MEASURE button again to stop continuous measurement.

5.4 Area Measurement

  1. Press the MENU button until the area measurement icon appears on the display.
  2. Take the first measurement (e.g., length) by aiming and pressing ON/MEASURE.
  3. Take the second measurement (e.g., width) by aiming and pressing ON/MEASURE.
  4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

5.5 Volume Measurement

  1. Press the MENU button until the volume measurement icon appears.
  2. Take the first measurement (length) by aiming and pressing ON/MEASURE.
  3. Take the second measurement (width) by aiming and pressing ON/MEASURE.
  4. Take the third measurement (height) by aiming and pressing ON/MEASURE.
  5. The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.

5.6 Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement)

This mode allows for indirect measurement of heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.

  1. Press the MENU button until the desired Pythagorean icon appears (e.g., for two-point or three-point measurement).
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse, base).
  3. The device will calculate and display the unknown side.

5.7 Unit Conversion

To change the measurement units (meters, feet, inches):

  • Press the UNITS button repeatedly to cycle through the available units (m, ft, in). The selected unit will be displayed.

5.8 Changing Reference Point

The device can measure from its front or rear edge. To change the reference point:

  • Press the Reference Point button (often indicated by an icon showing the device with an arrow). The display will show an icon indicating the current reference point.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Pay special attention to keeping the laser lens clean.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
