3. Setup

3.1. Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2 (the outermost position).
  2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure the AM/PM is correctly set if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or date changes at midnight.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back into position 0 (normal operating position).

3.2. Setting the Date and Day (Multifunction Dials)

The BQ2491 features sub-dials for day and date. These are typically adjusted using the pushers.

  1. Date Sub-dial: Gently press Pusher A (top pusher) repeatedly to advance the date hand to the correct date.
  2. Day Sub-dial: Gently press Pusher B (bottom pusher) repeatedly to advance the day hand to the correct day of the week.
  3. If your watch has a 24-hour sub-dial, it usually synchronizes with the main time setting and does not require separate adjustment.
  4. Avoid setting the date or day between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism and potentially damage the movement.

4. Operating Your Watch

Once the time, date, and day are set, your Fossil Bannon watch will operate continuously. The main hands display the current time, while the sub-dials provide additional information at a glance.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning Your Watch

  • Wipe the watch case and stainless steel bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
  • For more thorough cleaning, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.2. Battery Replacement

Your watch is powered by one LR44 battery. When the watch stops running, the battery needs to be replaced. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance seal is properly maintained.

5.3. Water Resistance

The Fossil Bannon BQ2491 has a water resistance rating of 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, showering, or washing hands. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Watch not running:
    • Check if the crown is fully pushed in.
    • The battery may need replacement. Consult a professional watch technician.
  • Time or date incorrect:
    • Refer to Section 3: Setup, to reset the time, date, and day.
    • Ensure you are not attempting to set the date/day between 9 PM and 3 AM.
  • Condensation inside the crystal:
    • This may indicate a breach in the water resistance seal. Avoid further contact with water and seek professional service immediately.
