3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the accurate and safe operation of your ELING GPS Speedometer with Tachometer. Please follow these steps carefully.
3.1. Mounting the Gauge
- Open an 85mm (3 3/8") hole in the dashboard or mounting panel.
- Ensure a clearance of 55mm (2 3/16”) behind the panel to accommodate the gauge and wiring.
- Insert the gauge into the hole.
- Secure the gauge using the provided fastening ring. Tighten the fastening ring until the gauge is firmly in place.
3.2. Wiring Connections
Connect the wiring harness according to the following pin assignments:
- Black: Ground (-)
- Red: ING+ (12/24V Power Supply)
- Red (separate wire): Amber Backlight (+)
- Orange: RPM Signal (or W-Terminal)
- Blue: High Beam Indicator
- Green: Left Turn Light Indicator
- White: Right Turn Light Indicator
For the external button connection, connect one pin of the external button to the white wire and the other pin to the black wire.
3.3. GPS Antenna Installation
Securely fasten the GPS antenna, preferably outdoors or inside the front windscreen, ensuring it has a clear view of the sky to pick up satellite signals. Connect the antenna cable to the dedicated socket at the back of the gauge. Do not cut the antenna cable.
After turning on the power, allow the gauge to sample satellite signals for approximately one minute. GPS data is for reference only and should not be trusted as the sole navigation source.

4. Operating Instructions
The ELING 2-in-1 GPS Speedometer with Tachometer offers several configurable functions accessible via the external button or the button on the back of the unit.
4.1. Function Selection
Press and hold the back button or external button, then turn on the power supply. The LCD will display "PULSE", "ODO", "UNIT", "BUZZ", etc. You can select the desired function by releasing the button at the appropriate display.
4.2. RPM Sensor or W-Terminal (PULSE Setting)
After selecting "PULSE", the unit is 0.01 pulse/round. For example, if the LCD shows 100, it means 1 pulse per round.
To confirm the RPM Ratio:
- If your sensor is installed on the flying wheel panel, the RPM ratio is equal to the number of gears of the engine.
- If the speed signal is taken from the W-Terminal, the RPM ratio is equal to half the number of poles.
Universal RPM Ratio for Reference:
| Outboard Engine | Inboard or Gasoline Engine | Diesel Engine | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric Poles | RPM Ratio | Cylinder | Stroke | RPM Ratio | RPM Ratio=Gear Number |
| 4 | 2 | 6 | 4 | 3 | |
| 6 | 3 | 8 | 4 | 4 | |
| 8 | 4 | 10 | 4 | 5 | |
| 12 | 6 | 12 | 4 | 6 | |
4.3. Odometer Adjustment (ODO Setting)
After selecting "ODO", the LCD will show the current odometer value (e.g., "5000" for 5000 km). Press the button to change the flashing digit from 0 to 999999 to set up the target odometer value. This allows you to reset or adjust the total mileage displayed.
4.4. Overspeed Buzzer Alarm (BUZZ Setting)
After selecting "BUZZ", the LCD will show the current alarm threshold (e.g., "B.80" for 80 km/h). Press the button to change the flashing digits from 10 to 240 to set the overspeed alarm threshold value. Once set, the buzzer will activate if your speed exceeds this value.
Note: After setting, you should disconnect both Power+ and GND, and then reconnect the two cables. If you just turn off Power+, the setting will not be saved properly.
4.5. Switch Odometer & Trip Odometer
The LCD will show the Total Odometer as default. Quickly press the button to switch between the Trip Odometer and Total Odometer. Press and hold the button to reset the Trip Odometer to Zero.
5. Maintenance
The ELING 2-in-1 GPS Speedometer with Tachometer is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. To ensure longevity and optimal performance:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the display and bezel. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the surface.
- Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Environmental Protection: While designed for various environments, avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures or direct water immersion beyond its intended use.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ELING 2-in-1 GPS Speedometer with Tachometer, consider the following common solutions:
- No Power/Display Off:
- Check all power connections (Red-ING+, Black-Ground) for proper contact and voltage (9-32V).
- Ensure the fuse (if applicable in your vehicle's circuit) is not blown.
- Inaccurate Speed/Odometer Readings:
- Verify the GPS antenna is securely fastened and has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky.
- Allow sufficient time (approx. 1 minute) for the GPS signal to acquire after power-on.
- The unit features GPS Blind Area Odometer Compensation, which should maintain accuracy in tunnels. If issues persist, re-check antenna placement.
- Tachometer Inaccuracy:
- Ensure the Orange RPM Signal wire is correctly connected to the engine's RPM signal source (e.g., W-Terminal of the alternator).
- Verify the "PULSE" setting is correctly configured according to your engine's specifications (RPM ratio). Refer to Section 4.2.
- Overspeed Alarm Issues:
- Check the "BUZZ" setting to ensure the alarm threshold is correctly set. Remember to disconnect and reconnect power after changing this setting. Refer to Section 4.4.
- No Backlight:
- Check the separate Red wire for the Amber Backlight for proper connection and power.
