Orient 'Bambino Version 2' Automatic Dress Watch User Manual

Model: TAC00009NO | Brand: Orient

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Orient 'Bambino Version 2' Automatic Dress Watch. This timepiece combines an antique-inspired design with modern functionality, featuring the F6722 automatic movement. This movement allows for automatic winding, manual hand-winding, and a hacking seconds function for precise time setting. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your watch to ensure its longevity and accurate performance.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Unboxing

Carefully remove your Orient Bambino watch from its packaging. Ensure all protective films are removed from the crystal and case back before use. The watch comes securely presented in a dedicated watch box.

2.2 Setting the Time and Date

To set the time and date on your Orient Bambino watch, follow these steps:

  1. Unscrew the Crown (if applicable): Some models feature a screw-down crown for enhanced water resistance. If your crown is screw-down, gently rotate it counter-clockwise until it springs free.
  2. Pull the Crown to Position 2 (Date Setting): Gently pull the crown out to the first click position. Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  3. Pull the Crown to Position 3 (Time Setting): Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop (hacking feature). Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To ensure accurate time, set the time a few minutes ahead and then push the crown back in when the reference time catches up.
  4. Push and Screw Down the Crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into its original position. If it's a screw-down crown, gently push it in and rotate clockwise to secure it, ensuring water resistance.

2.3 Winding the Watch

Your Orient Bambino watch features an automatic movement with hand-winding capability.

  • Automatic Winding: The watch is powered by the natural motion of your wrist. When worn regularly (approximately 8-10 hours a day), the rotor inside the watch will wind the mainspring, providing power.
  • Hand-Winding: If the watch has stopped or has not been worn for a period, you can manually wind it. With the crown in its normal, pushed-in position (Position 1), rotate it clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide sufficient power to start the watch and build up its power reserve.

3. Operating Your Watch

3.1 Automatic Movement (Caliber F6722)

The Orient Bambino Version 2 is equipped with the F6722 automatic movement. This movement is self-winding, meaning it harnesses the kinetic energy from your arm's motion to power the watch. When fully wound, the watch has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it will stop, and you will need to hand-wind it or wear it to restart the movement.

3.2 Hand-Winding Function

In addition to automatic winding, the F6722 movement allows for manual hand-winding. This is useful for starting the watch after it has stopped or for ensuring a full power reserve before wearing. To hand-wind, simply rotate the crown clockwise in its normal, pushed-in position (Position 1) until you feel resistance or have completed about 30-40 turns.

3.3 Hacking Feature

The hacking feature, also known as a stop-seconds function, allows for precise time synchronization. When the crown is pulled out to the time-setting position (Position 3), the second hand will stop. This enables you to set the time exactly to a reference time source. Once the crown is pushed back in, the second hand will resume its movement.

4. Care and Maintenance

4.1 Water Resistance

Your Orient Bambino watch has a water resistance rating of 30 meters (3 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water, such as rain or hand washing. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in (and screwed down if applicable) to maintain water resistance.

4.2 Cleaning

To clean your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the strap becomes dirty, wipe it gently with a slightly damp cloth and allow it to air dry completely. Regular cleaning helps maintain the watch's appearance.

4.3 Storage

When not wearing your watch for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Orient Bambino watch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Watch has stopped:
    • Ensure the watch is fully wound. Hand-wind the watch 30-40 times by rotating the crown clockwise in Position 1.
    • Wear the watch for at least 8-10 hours to allow the automatic movement to build up power reserve.
  • Time is inaccurate (running fast or slow):
    • Automatic watches can have slight variations in accuracy. A deviation of +/- 15-25 seconds per day is generally considered acceptable for mechanical movements.
    • Ensure the watch is sufficiently wound. An under-wound watch may run inaccurately.
    • Avoid exposing the watch to strong magnetic fields, which can affect accuracy.
    • If accuracy issues persist significantly, professional servicing may be required.
  • Date does not change:
    • Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. The date typically changes around midnight.
    • Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM.
  • Condensation under the crystal:
    • This indicates a potential breach in water resistance. Immediately take the watch to a qualified watchmaker for inspection and repair to prevent internal damage.
