1. Product Overview

The KERUI W18 is a comprehensive wireless home alarm system designed for enhanced security. It integrates both Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity, allowing for flexible monitoring and control. This system provides real-time alerts and remote management capabilities via a smartphone application.

2. Setup

2.1 SIM Card Installation

The KERUI W18 system requires a standard 2G GSM SIM card for its GSM functionality (alert calls and SMS). Ensure the SIM card has credit and supports 2G GSM services.

1. Locate the SIM card slot on the side of the main panel.
2. Insert a standard 2G GSM SIM card into the slot, ensuring correct orientation.
3. The system will automatically detect the SIM card upon powering on.

2.2 App Installation

The "Tuya Smart" app is essential for remote control and configuration of your KERUI W18 system.

1. Search for "Tuya Smart" in your device's app store (Apple App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android).
2. Download and install the application.
3. Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.

2.3 Connecting to Wi-Fi

The KERUI W18 connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. Ensure your smartphone is also connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network during the setup process.

1. On the alarm panel, navigate to the Wi-Fi configuration menu.
2. In the Tuya Smart app, select to add a new device and follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
3. Enter your Wi-Fi password into the app. The system will then attempt to connect.
4. Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon on the panel will indicate a successful connection.

2.4 Powering On and Initial Setup

1. Connect the power adapter to the main panel and a power outlet.
2. Flip the ON/OFF switch on the side of the panel to the 'ON' position.
3. The panel will power on and display the main interface.
4. Follow any initial voice prompts or on-screen instructions to set the date, time, and language.

2.5 Pairing Wireless Sensors

The included sensors are typically pre-programmed. If you add new sensors or need to re-pair existing ones:

1. Access the 'Sensor Pairing' or 'Add Device' menu on the main panel or via the Tuya Smart app.
2. Activate the sensor (e.g., open a door/window for a contact sensor, trigger a motion detector).
3. The panel will register the new sensor and prompt you to assign it to a zone.
4. Repeat for all wireless sensors.

3. Operating the System

3.1 Arming and Disarming

The system can be armed or disarmed using the main panel, remote key fobs, or the Tuya Smart app.

• Arm (Away Mode): Activates all sensors. Use when leaving the property.
• Disarm: Deactivates all sensors. Use when entering the property.
• Home Arm (Stay Mode): Activates perimeter sensors (e.g., door/window contacts) while allowing free movement within the property (e.g., PIR sensors in 'Home' zone attribute are inactive).

3.2 Understanding Zone Types

The KERUI W18 offers 8 distinct zone types to customize security responses for different areas.

• Normal Zone: Functions in both arm and disarm states.
• Stay Zone: Active when the system is in Home Arm mode.
• Smart Zone: Triggers an alarm after two detections within 30 seconds.
• Emergency Zone: Triggers an immediate alarm regardless of arm/disarm status.
• Closed Zone: Does not trigger an alarm when activated.
• Doorbell Zone: Panel sounds a 'ding-dong' chime when activated.
• Welcome Zone: Panel sounds a 'welcome' chime when activated.
• Backup Zone: Triggers an alarm once activated.

3.3 Scheduling Arm/Disarm

Automate your security by setting up timed arming and disarming schedules.

1. Access the 'Schedule' or 'Timer' settings via the main panel or Tuya Smart app.
2. Set desired times for the system to arm (Away or Home) and disarm.
3. Save your schedule. The system will automatically adjust its status at the programmed times.

3.4 Receiving Alerts

When an alarm is triggered, the system will notify you through multiple channels.

• Siren Activation: The wired indoor siren will sound loudly.
• App Push Notifications: Instant alerts sent to your smartphone via the Tuya Smart app.
• SMS Alerts: Text messages sent to up to 6 pre-set phone numbers, indicating the triggered zone.
• Phone Calls: Automated calls made to up to 6 pre-set phone numbers.

3.5 Two-Way Intercom Function

The system supports a two-way intercom feature, allowing you to communicate through the alarm panel remotely.

1. When receiving an alert call, you can answer it to activate the intercom.
2. Speak into your phone to communicate with anyone near the alarm panel.

4. Configuration and Advanced Settings

4.1 Setting Alert Phone Numbers

Configure up to 6 phone numbers to receive alert calls and SMS messages.

1. Navigate to the 'Phone Settings' or 'Alarm Numbers' menu on the panel or app.
2. Enter the desired phone numbers.
3. Save the settings.

4.2 Customizing Zone Attributes

Each of the 99 wireless zones can be independently defined and named via the app.

1. In the Tuya Smart app, go to 'Zone Settings'.
2. Select a zone and assign its type (e.g., Normal, Stay, Emergency).
3. Name the zone for easy identification (e.g., 'Living Room PIR', 'Front Door').
4. Configure siren ON/OFF for each zone as needed.

4.3 Changing System Passwords

For security, it is recommended to change the default system password (usually 1234).

1. Access the 'System Settings' or 'Password' menu on the main panel.
2. Enter the current password, then set a new, strong password.
3. Confirm the new password and save.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Backup

The main panel has an internal battery that provides power for 6-8 hours during a power outage. Ensure the system is regularly connected to power to keep the internal battery charged.

5.2 Low Voltage Indication

The system will provide a low voltage indication when the internal battery or sensor batteries are running low. Replace sensor batteries promptly and ensure the main panel is connected to power.

5.3 Tamper Protection

The W18 panel includes an integrated tamper switch. If the panel is removed from its mounting location without disarming, an alarm will be triggered. Ensure the panel is securely mounted.

6. Troubleshooting

• Wi-Fi Connection Issues:
  Ensure your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal. The W18 is not compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct and your smartphone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz network during setup.
• GSM SIM Card Not Working:
  Confirm the SIM card is a standard 2G GSM card with active credit. Ensure it is inserted correctly. Some carriers may require specific activation for 2G services.
• Sensors Not Pairing:
  Ensure the sensor battery is installed correctly and has sufficient power. Activate the sensor within range of the main panel during the pairing process. Check the sensor's manual for specific activation steps.
• False Alarms:
  Review zone settings to ensure sensors are assigned to appropriate zone types. For PIR motion detectors, ensure they are not placed in areas with direct sunlight, drafts, or near heat sources that could cause false triggers. Adjust sensitivity if available.
• Unexpected System Behavior:
  If the system exhibits erratic behavior (e.g., arming/disarming unexpectedly), check for conflicting schedules or remote commands. A factory reset may be necessary as a last resort (refer to advanced settings in the app or panel menu).
• No Alert Calls/SMS:
  Verify that alert phone numbers are correctly entered and saved. Ensure the GSM SIM card has sufficient credit and network coverage.
