5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Zoom G1 Four and accessories:

5.1 Connecting the Zoom G1 Four

  1. Connect your Guitar: Use the Strukture instrument cable to connect your electric guitar to the INPUT jack on the right side of the G1 Four's rear panel.
  2. Connect to an Amplifier or Headphones:
    • For an amplifier: Connect the OUTPUT jack on the left side of the G1 Four's rear panel to your guitar amplifier's input using another instrument cable (not included).
    • For headphones: Connect the Polsen HPC-A30 headphones directly to the OUTPUT jack. If the headphone plug is 3.5mm, use the included 1/4" adapter.
  3. Power Connection:
    • Using the AC Adapter: Connect the ART 9V AC Power Adapter to the DC 9V input on the G1 Four's rear panel, then plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.
    • Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the G1 Four and insert the 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Power On: Once connections are secure, the G1 Four will power on automatically when connected to the AC adapter or when batteries are inserted.

5.2 Connecting Polsen HPC-A30 Headphones

The Polsen HPC-A30 headphones connect to any standard 1/4-inch (6.35mm) headphone jack. If your device has a 3.5mm (1/8-inch) jack, use the included 1/4" adapter.

  1. Insert the headphone's 1/4-inch plug into the desired audio output jack (e.g., the G1 Four's OUTPUT jack).
  2. Adjust the headband for a comfortable fit.

6. Operating the Zoom G1 Four

This section covers the basic operation of the G1 Four.

6.1 Basic Navigation and Modes

6.2 Effects and Amp Models

  1. In Edit mode, use the navigation buttons to select an effect slot.
  2. Turn the SELECT knob to choose an effect type or amp model.
  3. Use the Lo, Mid, Hi, Vol knobs and the fifth parameter knob to adjust the selected effect's parameters.
  4. To save your changes, press the MEMORY button, select a patch location, and confirm.

6.3 Looper Function

The G1 Four features a 30-second looper.

  1. Press the LOOPER button to activate the looper.
  2. Press the left footswitch (REC/PLAY) to start recording.
  3. Press the left footswitch again to stop recording and start playback.
  4. Press the left footswitch during playback to overdub.
  5. Press the right footswitch (STOP) to stop playback.
  6. Press and hold the right footswitch to clear the loop.

6.4 Rhythm Patterns

The G1 Four includes 68 built-in rhythm patterns.

  1. Press the RHYTHM button to activate the rhythm section.
  2. Use the SELECT knob to choose a rhythm pattern.
  3. Adjust the tempo using the appropriate control (refer to the G1 Four's on-screen display for tempo adjustment).
  4. Press the RHYTHM button again to stop the rhythm.

The chromatic tuner allows for accurate instrument tuning.

  1. Press both footswitches simultaneously to activate the tuner.
  2. Play a single note on your guitar. The display will show the note and indicate if it is sharp or flat.
  3. Adjust your guitar's tuning until the display indicates the note is in tune.
  4. Press either footswitch to exit the tuner.
