Setup

Before using your watch, please follow these steps to set the time and date.

  1. Setting the Time:
    • Pull the crown (center knob) out to position 2.
    • Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure you set the correct AM/PM for the 24-hour sub-dial if applicable.
    • Push the crown back into position 1 to start the watch.
  2. Setting the Date:
    • Pull the crown out to position 1 (first click).
    • Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date. If the watch has a day sub-dial, turning the crown counter-clockwise may adjust the day.
    • Once the correct date (and day, if applicable) is displayed, push the crown back into the normal operating position.
  3. Adjusting the Strap:

The leather strap can be adjusted by using the buckle. Insert the tang into the desired hole for a comfortable and secure fit. Ensure the watch is not too tight or too loose on your wrist.

Operating the Multifunction Dials

Your Fenmore watch features a multifunction quartz movement, typically including sub-dials for day, date, and 24-hour time. These are synchronized with the main time setting.

  • Main Time Display: The primary hour, minute, and second hands display the current time.
  • Sub-dials: The smaller dials on the watch face indicate additional information. These usually include:
    • Day of the week.
    • Date of the month.
    • 24-hour time format (often linked to the main hour hand to indicate AM/PM).

These sub-dials are typically adjusted automatically when the main time and date are set using the crown, as described in the Setup section.

  • Water Resistance (5 ATM): Your watch is water-resistant up to 5 atmospheres (50 meters). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not for diving or snorkeling. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet to prevent water intrusion.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and performance of your Fossil Fenmore watch.

  • Cleaning:
    • Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
    • For the leather strap, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then dry thoroughly.
  • Battery Replacement: The watch is powered by a product-specific battery. When the watch stops running, it indicates the battery needs replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.
  • Water Resistance Care:
    • Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before exposing the watch to water.
    • Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or sudden temperature changes, as this can compromise the water-resistant seals.
    • If condensation appears inside the watch, have it inspected by a professional immediately.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Watch Not Running:
    • Check if the crown is fully pushed in. The watch will not run if the crown is pulled out.
    • The battery may be depleted. Refer to the Maintenance section for battery replacement.
  • Time/Date Not Setting Correctly:
    • Ensure the crown is pulled out to the correct position for setting (position 2 for time, position 1 for date).
    • If the date changes at noon instead of midnight, you have set the time incorrectly for AM/PM. Advance the time by 12 hours.
  • Condensation Inside the Watch: This indicates a potential breach in the water resistance. Avoid further exposure to water and seek professional service immediately to prevent damage to the movement.
