4. Setup and Installation

This kit features a plug-and-play T-Harness design, significantly reducing the number of wiring connections typically required for remote start systems. Basic knowledge of car electronics wiring is recommended for successful installation.

4.1 General Installation Steps

  1. Access the Steering Column: Carefully lower or remove the knee panel located below the steering column to access the vehicle's wiring harnesses.
  2. Locate OBD2 Port Harness: Identify the main harness connected to the OBD2 diagnostic port.
  3. Connect T-Harness: Unplug the main harness from the OBD2 port. Connect one end of the provided T-Harness to the vehicle's OBD2 port and the other end to the harness you just unplugged. Ensure all connections are secure and the locking tabs are engaged.
  4. Connect Remote Start Module: Locate the specific black connector on the T-Harness that fits the remote start module. It is advisable to mark this connector to distinguish it from other similar-looking plugs.
  5. Module Programming (Initial Setup):
    • Hold down the button on the remote start module.
    • While holding the button, plug in the black connector to the module.
    • Continue holding the button until the module's indicator lights cycle and settle on a single solid blue light. If you miss this state, unplug the black connector, hold the button, and plug it back in to retry.
    • Once the solid blue light is achieved, release the button.
  6. Connect Remaining Plugs: Plug in any remaining connectors from the T-Harness to the remote start module, such as the white plug.
  7. Vehicle Ignition Cycle: Insert your vehicle key into the ignition and turn it to the 'ON' position (do not start the engine). Wait for the module's blue light to begin blinking.
  8. Finalization: Remove the key from the ignition. The system is now ready for testing.

  • No Start After Programming: Double-check all T-Harness connections. Ensure no wires are loose or improperly seated within the plugs. Verify the module programming sequence was followed precisely, especially the solid blue light indication.
  • Incorrect OBD2 Port Location: Vehicle configurations can vary. If the OBD2 port is not in the expected location, it may be necessary to unbolt the port to access the harness behind it.
  • Fan/Climate Control Issues: In some cases, the vehicle's fan or climate control may not activate until the key is inserted into the ignition. This is a characteristic of certain vehicle systems and not a defect of the remote start kit.
