2. Setup
2.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the camera body.
- Slide or unlatch the cover to open it.
- Insert one AAA alkaline battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: A fresh AAA alkaline battery is required for flash operation.
2.2. Film Loading
- Open the camera back by sliding the latch on the side of the camera.
- Place a 35mm film cassette into the film chamber on the left side.
- Pull the film leader across to the take-up spool on the right side, ensuring it engages with the teeth of the spool.
- Advance the film slightly using the film advance wheel until the perforations are securely engaged.
- Close the camera back firmly until it latches.
- Advance the film two frames by turning the film advance wheel and pressing the shutter button to ensure the film is properly loaded and ready for the first shot. The frame counter should show '1'.
3. Operating the Camera
3.1. Taking Photographs
- Look through the optical viewfinder to compose your shot.
- The camera features a fixed focus lens, meaning it does not require manual focusing. Ensure your subject is within the recommended distance for clear images.
- Press the shutter button located on the top of the camera to take a picture.
- After taking a picture, turn the film advance wheel to advance the film to the next frame. Do not force the wheel if it resists.
3.2. Using the Built-in Flash
The camera is equipped with a built-in flash for low-light conditions.
- To activate the flash, slide the flash switch to the 'On' or 'Fill' position.
- Wait for the flash ready lamp (if present) to illuminate, indicating the flash is charged. This may take a few seconds.
- Take your photograph as usual. The flash will fire automatically.
- For best results, use the flash for subjects within 1 to 3 meters (3 to 10 feet).
3.3. Rewinding the Film
Once all exposures on the film roll have been used (the film advance wheel will stop turning), the film must be rewound back into its cassette.
- Locate the film rewind button on the bottom of the camera. Press and hold this button.
- Turn the film rewind crank (usually located on the top-left of the camera) clockwise until you feel the tension release, indicating the film is fully rewound into the cassette.
- Open the camera back and remove the exposed film cassette.
4. Maintenance
4.1. Cleaning
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the camera body.
- For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on any part of the camera.
4.2. Storage
- Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Remove the battery if the camera will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
5. Troubleshooting
- Flash Not Firing: Ensure a fresh AAA battery is correctly installed. Check that the flash switch is in the 'On' position and allow sufficient time for the flash to charge.
- Blank or Underexposed Photos: This camera has manual exposure control and fixed settings. Ensure adequate lighting for your shots, especially when not using the flash. For indoor or low-light situations, always use the flash.
- Film Not Advancing: Check if the film is correctly loaded and engaged with the take-up spool. Do not force the film advance wheel. If the film is at the end of the roll, it will not advance further.
- Battery Drains Quickly: Ensure the flash is turned off when not in use. Old or low-quality batteries may drain faster. Replace with a fresh, reputable brand AAA alkaline battery.
- Film Release Button Accidentally Pressed: Be mindful of the film release button's location, often near the shutter. Avoid pressing it during normal operation to prevent accidental film rewind and potential overlapped exposures.
