Setup Guide
Initial Winding and Time Setting:
Your Zeppelin Atlantic 8470 watch is equipped with an automatic mechanical movement. It is powered by the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped or is running low on power, it may need an initial manual wind.
- Manual Winding: To initiate power, gently rotate the crown (located on the right side of the watch case) clockwise approximately 30-40 times while it is in its normal, pushed-in position. This will provide enough power for the watch to start ticking.
- Setting the Time:
- Pull the crown out to the furthest position (Position 2).
- Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure the 24-hour sub-dial (at 9 o'clock) also reflects the correct AM/PM period.
- Once the time is set, push the crown back into its normal position (Position 0).
- Setting the Date:
- Pull the crown out to the first click position (Position 1).
- Rotate the crown to adjust the date in the date window (at 3 o'clock). Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement. If the current time falls within this range, adjust the time outside this range first, set the date, then reset the time.
- Once the date is set, push the crown back into its normal position (Position 0).

Operating Your Watch
Automatic Movement:
The Caliber 8217 automatic movement in your Zeppelin watch is self-winding. It gains power from the natural motion of your arm as you wear it. For optimal performance, it is recommended to wear the watch daily for at least 8-10 hours. If the watch is not worn for an extended period (typically 40 hours or more), it will stop and require manual winding as described in the "Setup Guide" section.
Date Display:
The date window at the 3 o'clock position displays the current day of the month. The date automatically advances once every 24 hours. If the watch stops and restarts, or if the month has fewer than 31 days, the date may need to be manually adjusted using the crown (Position 1).
24-Hour Display:
The sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position indicates the time in a 24-hour format, synchronized with the main hour and minute hands. This feature helps distinguish between AM and PM when setting the time and provides an alternative time reference.

Care and Maintenance
Water Resistance:
Your Zeppelin Atlantic 8470 watch is water resistant up to 5 ATM (50 meters), conforming to DIN standard 8310. This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water. However, it is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Avoid operating the crown while the watch is wet.
Cleaning:
- Case and Crystal: Wipe the watch case and mineral glass with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Leather Strap: Leather straps are susceptible to damage from water, sweat, and direct sunlight. Clean the strap with a dry, soft cloth. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat. Regular conditioning with a leather-specific product can help maintain its flexibility and appearance.
Storage:
When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields, which can affect the accuracy of mechanical movements.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch has stopped or is running slow. | Insufficient power reserve (not worn enough). | Manually wind the watch by rotating the crown clockwise 30-40 times. Wear the watch regularly for at least 8-10 hours daily. |
| Date changes at noon instead of midnight. | The watch's 24-hour cycle is misaligned. | Advance the time by 12 hours. Ensure the 24-hour sub-dial correctly indicates AM/PM when setting the time. |
| Date does not change automatically. | Insufficient power or mechanical issue. | Ensure the watch is fully wound. If the problem persists, contact customer support. |
| Condensation under the crystal. | Exposure to extreme temperature changes or compromised water resistance. | Avoid extreme temperature fluctuations. If condensation persists, seek professional service immediately to prevent damage to the movement. |
