The black probe is typically used to monitor the evaporator temperature, while the blue probe is for sensing the room or cabinet temperature.

3. Safety Information

  • Electrical Hazard: Ensure the power supply is disconnected before any installation, wiring, or maintenance procedures. The unit operates on 120V AC/DC.
  • Professional Installation: Installation and wiring should only be performed by qualified personnel or a certified technician. Incorrect wiring can lead to device malfunction, electrical shock, or fire.
  • Environmental Conditions: Do not expose the device to excessive moisture, dust, or extreme temperatures outside its specified operating range.
  • Intended Use: This device is designed for temperature control in refrigeration systems. Do not use it for purposes other than its intended application.

4. Setup and Installation

The Dixell XR06CX is designed for panel mounting. Refer to the wiring diagram on the back of the unit for correct electrical connections.

4.1 Wiring Connections

  1. Power Supply: Connect the 120V AC/DC power supply to the designated terminals as indicated on the wiring diagram.
  2. Compressor: Connect the compressor load to the appropriate output terminals.
  3. Fan: Connect the fan load to its respective output terminals.
  4. Defrost Heater: Connect the defrost heater load to the defrost output terminals.
  5. Evaporator Probe: Connect the black temperature probe to the evaporator sensor input (typically labeled 'Evap' or 'P2').
  6. Room Probe: Connect the blue temperature probe to the room temperature sensor input (typically labeled 'Room' or 'P1').
  7. Digital Input: If applicable, connect any digital inputs (e.g., door switch) to the designated terminals.

Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes. Double-check all wiring before restoring power to the unit.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On

Once wired correctly, apply power to the unit. The digital display will illuminate and show the current room temperature.

5.2 Setting the Setpoint Temperature

  1. Press and hold the SET button for approximately 2 seconds until the setpoint value flashes.
  2. Use the UP or DOWN/AUX buttons to adjust the setpoint to the desired temperature.
  3. Press the SET button again to confirm the new setpoint and exit the programming mode.

5.3 Manual Defrost

To initiate a manual defrost cycle, press and hold the defrost button (snowflake/water droplet icon) for approximately 2 seconds. The defrost cycle will begin according to the programmed parameters.

5.4 Parameter Programming (Advanced)

The XR06CX offers extensive programmable parameters for fine-tuning its operation (e.g., differential, defrost intervals, fan control). Accessing and modifying these parameters typically involves a specific key combination (often holding SET and DOWN/AUX simultaneously) to enter the parameter menu. Refer to the detailed Dixell XR06CX programming manual for a complete list and explanation of all parameters. The unit also supports HOTKEY functionality for quick parameter loading.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the front panel of the controller with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Probe Inspection: Regularly inspect the temperature sensor probes for any signs of damage or corrosion. Ensure they are securely placed in their intended locations (evaporator and room).
  • Electrical Connections: Annually, or as needed, have a qualified technician check all electrical connections for tightness and integrity.

7. Troubleshooting

If the unit is not functioning as expected, consider the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  • No Display/No Power: Check the power supply connection and ensure the circuit breaker is not tripped. Verify the 120V input.
  • Incorrect Temperature Reading: Check the sensor probes for proper connection and physical damage. Ensure they are correctly positioned.
  • Unit Not Cooling/Heating: Verify the setpoint temperature is correctly configured. Check if the compressor, fan, or defrost outputs are receiving power as expected (requires a multimeter and qualified technician).
  • Error Codes: If an error code appears on the display, consult the full Dixell XR06CX programming manual for specific error code definitions and solutions.

For complex issues or if basic troubleshooting does not resolve the problem, contact a qualified refrigeration technician or Xiltek customer support.
