4. Setup and Installation
- Preparation: Ensure the main water supply to the RO system is turned off and the system is depressurized.
- Fittings: This valve requires 1/4" Quick Connect (QC) fittings, which are not included. Ensure you have the appropriate fittings for your system.
- Placement: Install the solenoid valve on the feed water line to the RO system, typically before the booster pump or membrane housing. Ensure the flow direction arrow on the valve body matches the water flow.
- Connections: Connect the 1/4" tubing to the quick connect ports on the valve. Push the tubing firmly into the port until it seats.
- Electrical Wiring: The valve operates on 24VAC. A wire harness is required for connection to a one-plug power source. Connect the valve's open wiring to the appropriate terminals of your RO system's control circuit, ensuring correct polarity if specified by your system.
- Leak Check: Slowly turn on the main water supply and check all connections for leaks. Tighten fittings as necessary.
5. Operating Instructions
The Neo-Pure Electronic Shut-off Solenoid Valve operates automatically in conjunction with your RO system's tank and pump pressure switch. Its primary function is to conserve water by preventing continuous flow once the RO storage tank is full.
- When the RO tank is not full, the pump pressure switch will activate, signaling the solenoid valve to open and allow feed water to flow to the RO membrane.
- As the RO tank fills, the back pressure increases. Once the tank reaches its full pressure, the pump pressure switch will deactivate, which in turn signals the solenoid valve to close.
- When the solenoid valve closes, it positively shuts off the feed water supply, stopping the RO system from producing more water and preventing wastewater from flowing to the drain.
- The valve will automatically reopen when water is drawn from the RO tank, causing the tank pressure to drop and reactivating the pump pressure switch.
6. Maintenance
The Neo-Pure Solenoid Valve is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can ensure optimal performance:
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the valve and connections for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or physical damage.
- Electrical Connections: Ensure electrical wiring connections remain secure and free from moisture.
- Functionality Check: Observe the RO system's operation to confirm the valve is opening and closing correctly in response to tank pressure changes.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your solenoid valve, consider the following:
- Valve Not Opening:
- Check for proper 24VAC power supply to the valve.
- Verify the pump pressure switch is functioning correctly and signaling the valve to open.
- Ensure there are no blockages in the feed water line.
- Valve Not Closing:
- Confirm the RO tank is reaching full pressure and the pump pressure switch is signaling the valve to close.
- Inspect the valve for any debris that might be preventing a full shut-off.
- Check for consistent 24VAC power; a continuous supply will keep the valve open.
- Leaks:
- Tighten all quick connect fittings.
- Inspect tubing for cracks or improper cuts.
If issues persist, contact Neo-Pure customer support or a qualified technician.
