5. Operating Instructions
Always ensure the device is properly assembled and all safety precautions are followed before operation.
5.1 Switching Between Blower and Vacuum Modes
The Ferrex F-LS-3002-2 allows for easy transition between blowing and vacuuming functions. Locate the mode selector switch, typically near the handle (refer to Figure 3.2). Move the switch to the desired position for either blowing or vacuuming. Ensure the switch clicks firmly into place.
5.2 Starting and Stopping the Unit
- To Start: Connect the power plug to a suitable mains outlet. Press and hold the ON/OFF trigger switch. The motor will start.
- To Stop: Release the ON/OFF trigger switch. The motor will stop. Always disconnect the power plug from the mains after use.
5.3 Blowing Operation
Hold the blower firmly, directing the nozzle towards the debris. Use a sweeping motion to gather leaves and light debris into piles. Avoid directing the airflow towards people or fragile objects.
5.4 Vacuuming and Shredding Operation
When in vacuum mode, guide the vacuum tube over the debris. The powerful suction will draw leaves and light garden waste into the tube. The integrated shredder blades will reduce the volume of the collected material before it enters the collection bag. This allows for more material to be collected before emptying.
5.5 Emptying the Collection Bag
When the collection bag is full, disconnect the device from the power supply. Unclip or unfasten the collection bag from the unit. Empty the shredded debris into a compost bin or waste receptacle. Reattach the bag securely before resuming operation.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Ferrex device.
6.1 Cleaning the Unit
- Always disconnect the power plug before cleaning.
- Use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the unit. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Clear any debris from the air vents to prevent overheating.
6.2 Checking for Blockages
Periodically check the blower/vacuum tubes and the shredder chamber for blockages, especially after vacuuming wet or dense material. Disconnect power and use a non-metallic object to clear any obstructions.
6.3 Blade Inspection (Shredder)
The shredder blades are designed for durability, but inspect them periodically for wear or damage. If the shredding performance decreases, or if you notice unusual noises, the blades may need inspection by a qualified service technician.
6.4 Storage
Store the device in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the power cord is neatly coiled and secured to prevent damage.
