4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Gently twist the main light unit counter-clockwise to detach it from the magnetic base.
2. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the light unit.
3. Insert 3 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Align the light unit with the magnetic base and twist clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

4.2 Mounting

The Mi Motion-Activated Night Light 2 offers flexible mounting options:

• Freestanding: The night light can stand freely on flat surfaces such as bedside tables, shelves, or desks.
• Adhesive Mounting: The magnetic base comes with an adhesive sticker. Peel off the protective film from the adhesive and firmly press the base onto a clean, dry, flat surface (e.g., wall, cabinet, staircase). Once the base is secured, the light unit can be magnetically attached.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Automatic Operation

The Mi Motion-Activated Night Light 2 is designed for automatic operation. It features both a motion sensor and a light sensor:

• The light will only activate when the ambient environment is dark enough.
• Once darkness is detected, the motion sensor will trigger the light when human movement is within its detection range.
• The light will remain on for approximately 15 seconds after motion ceases, then automatically turn off.

5.2 Brightness Adjustment

The night light offers two brightness settings. To adjust the brightness:

1. Detach the light unit from its magnetic base.
2. Locate the small switch on the back of the light unit.
3. Toggle the switch to select between the two available brightness levels.
4. Reattach the light unit to its magnetic base.

5.3 Smart Lighting Adjustments via App (Optional)

For advanced customization and control, the Mi Motion-Activated Night Light 2 (Bluetooth version) can be connected to the Mi Home/Xiaomi Home app via a Bluetooth gateway. This allows you to:

• Adjust lighting up time.
• Customize brightness settings beyond the physical switch.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

When the light appears dim or stops activating, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.

Information on battery life: up to 365 days at lowest brightness setting, 180 days at highest, and 17 months when used purely as a sensor.

6.2 Cleaning

To clean the night light, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.

7. Troubleshooting

• Light not turning on:
  • Check if the batteries are installed correctly and are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Ensure the environment is dark enough for the light sensor to activate.
  • Verify that there is motion within the detection range of the sensor.
• Light is dim:
  • Batteries may be low. Replace them.
  • Check the brightness setting switch on the back of the unit.
• Light stays on constantly or triggers falsely:
  • Ensure there are no constant movements or heat sources (e.g., heating vents, direct sunlight) near the sensor.
  • Relocate the light to an area with less interference.
