5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install your HMCITY solar lights:

  1. Choose a Location: Select a location that receives direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours daily to ensure optimal charging. Avoid areas under eaves, trees, or other obstructions that may block sunlight.
  2. Mark Drill Holes: Hold the light against the desired mounting surface and mark the positions for the two screw holes.
  3. Drill Holes: Use a drill to create holes at the marked positions. Insert the expansion pillar-hinges into the drilled holes.
  4. Mount the Light: Align the light with the pillar-hinges and secure it using the provided screws. Ensure the light is firmly attached to the wall.

6. Operating Instructions

The HMCITY HM-2 solar light features a button on the back to cycle through three lighting modes:

  • Mode 1 (Motion Sensor Only): The light remains off until motion is detected. It then turns on at full brightness for approximately 15-30 seconds before turning off again.
  • Mode 2 (Permanent On + Motion Sensor): The light stays on at a dim brightness throughout the night. When motion is detected, it switches to full brightness for approximately 15-30 seconds, then returns to dim brightness.
  • Mode 3 (Permanent On): The light stays on at a constant, medium brightness throughout the night, regardless of motion.

Press the button repeatedly to cycle through these modes. The light will indicate the selected mode by flashing. Ensure the light is in the desired mode before leaving it to charge.

7. Maintenance

  • Clean the Solar Panel: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or debris. A clean panel ensures maximum sunlight absorption and charging efficiency.
  • Check Mounting: Periodically inspect the mounting screws to ensure the light remains securely attached.
  • Environmental Factors: In areas with heavy snow or prolonged cloudy weather, the light's performance may be reduced due to insufficient charging.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on at night.Insufficient solar charge.Ensure the solar panel is in direct sunlight for 6-8 hours. Clean the solar panel.
Light is dim or only stays on for a short time.Battery not fully charged or aging battery.Relocate the light to a sunnier spot. Ensure the solar panel is clean. If the problem persists after extended charging, the battery may need replacement (contact support).
Motion sensor not working.Sensor obstructed or incorrect mode.Ensure the sensor is clear of obstructions. Check that the light is set to Mode 1 or Mode 2.
Light turns on during the day.Solar panel is not detecting darkness.Ensure the solar panel is not covered or in a dark area during the day.
