2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock, Burns, and Mercury Exposure.

  • Always unplug the television from the power outlet and allow it to cool down completely (at least 30 minutes) before attempting to replace the lamp. Lamps operate at high temperatures and can cause severe burns.
  • Do not touch the bare lamp bulb with your fingers. Oils from your skin can create hot spots on the bulb, leading to premature failure. Handle the lamp assembly by its plastic housing.
  • Wear protective gloves and eye protection during installation to prevent injury from broken glass.
  • This lamp contains mercury. In case of lamp breakage, avoid direct contact with broken glass or mercury. Ventilate the room and follow local regulations for proper disposal of mercury-containing products. Do not dispose of with regular household waste.
  • Replace with the same type number. Using an incorrect lamp type can damage your television or pose a safety hazard.
  • Do not turn the cartridge over during installation or removal.

4. Installation Instructions

  1. Prepare the TV:
    • Turn off your Mitsubishi TV.
    • Unplug the TV's power cord from the wall outlet.
    • Allow the TV and the old lamp to cool down for at least 30 minutes. The lamp operates at very high temperatures.

  5. Close the Access Panel:

    • Ensure all panels are properly closed before proceeding.
  6. Power On and Reset Lamp Timer:
    • Plug the TV's power cord back into the wall outlet.
    • Turn on the TV.
    • Consult your TV's owner's manual for instructions on how to reset the lamp timer. Resetting the timer is crucial for accurate lamp life monitoring.

5. Operating the Lamp

Once installed, the OSRAM P-VIP TV Lamp Assembly operates automatically with your television. The lamp will illuminate when the TV is powered on and extinguish when the TV is powered off or enters standby mode.

  • Warm-up Time: The lamp may require a short warm-up period (a few seconds to a minute) to reach full brightness after being turned on.
  • Cool-down Time: After turning off the TV, the internal cooling fan will continue to run for a short period to cool the lamp. Do not unplug the TV during this cool-down cycle, as it can shorten lamp life.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper care can help extend the life of your lamp and maintain optimal picture quality.

  • Avoid Frequent On/Off Cycles: Repeatedly turning the TV on and off in short intervals can reduce lamp life.
  • Ensure Proper Ventilation: Do not block the ventilation openings on your TV. Adequate airflow is essential for lamp cooling.
  • Clean Air Filters (if applicable): Some TVs have air filters that should be cleaned periodically to ensure proper cooling. Refer to your TV's manual.
  • Handle with Care: Always handle the lamp assembly by its plastic housing. Avoid touching the glass bulb.

7. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues after installing your new lamp, consider the following common solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
TV does not turn on or shows no picture after lamp replacement. Lamp not fully seated; lamp access panel not closed properly; TV safety switch engaged. Ensure the lamp assembly is fully inserted and secured. Close and secure the lamp access panel completely. Unplug the TV, wait 5 minutes, then plug back in.
Picture is dim or flickering. Lamp nearing end of life (unlikely for new lamp); poor ventilation; lamp not fully seated. Ensure TV ventilation is not blocked. Re-seat the lamp assembly. If the problem persists, contact support.
Lamp indicator light on TV remains on or flashes. Lamp timer not reset; TV detects an issue with the lamp. Reset the lamp timer in your TV's menu (refer to TV manual). If the light persists, re-check lamp installation or contact support.
Loud fan noise from TV. Blocked ventilation; TV overheating. Ensure TV ventilation openings are clear. Clean any air filters if your TV has them.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact OSRAM customer support or a qualified service technician.
